Valve says exactly when L4D2 unlocks

Early doors tomorrow morning on PC.

Valve has said that the PC version of Left 4 Dead 2 will be available from Steam at 5am GMT tomorrow, 17th November.

The game's available to pre-order and pre-load from the developer's digital distribution service now.

In Europe, PC and Xbox 360 owners can pick up boxed versions this Friday, 20th November.

If you live somewhere other than the UK, Valve's compiled a list of local times (thanks Kotaku).

Left 4 Dead 2 puts you and up to three friends in control of four new survivors of a zombie apocalypse as they battle through five hour-long campaigns.

As before, it's a first-person shooter with heavy co-operative leanings, and there's a Versus mode where four other people can play as "special infected" to take you down.

Unlike before, there are a lot more set-piece gameplay ideas, gimmicks and game types, including the competitive Scavenge mode.

Check out our most recent hands-on preview, or if you're bored of reading that, look out for our review early tomorrow morning.

Too bad that the server version wasn't released over the weekend. Downloading the dedicated Server for the L4D2 Demo from Steam already took ages - literally two days. I'm pretty sure getting the full game will take forever just like the demo. Oh well, don't think I have time for this before the weekend anyway.

I really like the demo and will buy but not just yet. I want to try the PC version of the first as well so gonna wait for the doublepack to get deal and come down just a little. :)

Looking forward to reading the review first thing tomorrow morning.

Sidenote. I been playing AC2 this weekend and i must say its a huge improvement over the first. It never gets dull because of the huge variety of the missions. The environments looks fantastic. Firenze looks amazing and hasnt changed much the last few hundred years.

Downloaded the full game last week. I posted a comment saying it was available for preloading and got about a gazzillion -1s :)

Now suddenly it's news. Well mine is downloaded already so I'm laughing.

Well there is this. It's a good saving (€15 off the combined price of both) there will probably be better sales in the (possibly distant) future though, you could have gotten TF2 for €2-3 a few weeks back, for example.

    @penhalion

It's amazing how people down rate you for bringing what you'd imagine would be welcome news alright. :)

I've never really understood the point of the post-rating system, considering a lot of the rating people give make no sense.

    Early morning tomorrow then :)

    @Eraysor & sneetch

Just to amuse the tards and fanboys. Never ratings matter. Actually im more interested to read the negative posts. If its not from a burried real funboys, it tends to be a meaningfull comment that kiddos on the website dont like much cause either they feel insecure of something, or they just dont like your attitude torwards their console. And thats why I never cared. You know what would be awesome though? How would they like it to put a rating system for their articles? So we can rate the articles. Once they feel like the viewers ( not me ) feel like for the meaningless rating then they will think about it twice. So PLEASE if any of you editors are checking this ( i know you are ) consider a rating system for the articles. I see no reason not to. Actually I find it more usefull than rating comments... Half ppl post crap to kiss ass and the other half are afraid to say their actual opinion to not be minus rated from the retards.. ffs.

So tomorrow is it indeed. I have it preloaded on my steam neither took long to DL when i did. Good to be playing online to keep me from buying the oiginal version of MW2 till they consider dedicated servers! Till today when ive had tim to play, Dragon Age has been my buddy. Perfect story for a great game that is.

    Yes, yes...this L4D stuff is all very nice....but where's Half Life 2 Episode 3 ?
  • bad09 #11 2 years ago

    @ sneetch

Yeah I'm eying that, it's great value already for sure, and had I not already invested in 1 on 360 (didn't have the PC then) I'd bite their hand off! I'm gonna give a month or two to see if the price comes down. I'm certain they will do something I just need patience :)

I'm sure Left 4 Dead 1 will get a nice discount during Valve's Christmas sale.
  • f00b_inc #13 2 years ago

Yep ready to go tomorrow! we'll have to sort out some Versus. Look me up on Steam guys
  • bad09 #14 2 years ago

    @ giant_frying_pan

I'm new to Steam this year, so they have a sale a Christmas? Wicked! Is that just Valve games or does everyone get involved?
  • giant_frying_pan #15 2 years ago

Pretty much every game on Steam, if not every game, gets some sort of discount every year. Last year everything was 10-75% off. Left 4 Dead for example, was 25% off and Portal was $4.99 down from $19.99.
  • retr0gamer #16 2 years ago

Will it launch at on time like the pre-order demo did?
  • giant_frying_pan #17 2 years ago

I'm hoping it'll launch at on time like the first game did!
  • Ryboy #18 2 years ago

    Pre-installing now...

    1.3 M/Bs. Thankee very much.
