Undertow XBLA expansion out today

Follow the Path of the Elect.

Chair Entertainment has popped Undertow expansion Path of the Elect onto Xbox Live Marketplace.

It costs 400 Points (GBP 3.40 / EUR 4.80) and adds the Elect race with a five-level campaign of its own, doable in co-op or single-player.

The Elect will be the fourth race, and be playable in multiplayer along with four new maps. You can get a glimpse of this in our Path of the Elect gallery or trailer.

Unfortunately there's no word on whether there will be any more Achievements on offer.

Undertow is a side-scrolling shooter that was released on Live Arcade last December. Our only criticism was its length, but otherwise we felt it was a fun and welcome addition to the service.

Microsoft also offered it to everyone for free as a way of apologising for the Christmas performance of Live. So most of you should have it by now.

It joins Rocketmen: Axis of Evil on Live Arcade today, which we'll be offering our thoughts on soon (here's one: don't).

    It wasn't even worth it for free

    Didn't play 10 minutes of this either.

    One of the worst games I've played in years. I tried to give it a chance, because I got it for free, but it's just not worth anybody's time. Still, that "Powered by Unreal Engine" logo at the start is probably one of the best jokes I've seen in a long time. Was that the original Unreal engine?

    I'd rather play Rez.

    Undertow is quite good.

    Rocketmen is not sadly. I was looking forward to 4 player coop in a game made by my favourite developer Capcom.

    Must have missed that then.

    And now it all becomes clear.. give it away as you know its got an expansion coming so will increase your microtransactions..

    @delbert

    Not if the game's totally rubbish
  • sanctusmortis #8 4 years ago

    Well, it did totally suck - and not getting extra achievements for completing it on a higher difficulty than lowest sucks even more.

    I can't see this selling, especially as the races seem to make no difference at all.
  • muscleblade #9 4 years ago

    @sanctusmortis

    You do get an achievement for completing it on the highest difficulty. The game scored an 8/10 on this site.
    Its not a bad game - would give it an 7/10 myself and i payed 800mp for it. The coop on ultra dificulty was challenging and fun.

    I really liked it. First XBLA I'd played in a long time where I sat there playing it to the very end and then went on-line. I hindsight a 7 would've been more apt, I'll admit that.

    I've just realised that I downloaded Undertow when Microsoft gave it away free - well why not? - but I've not played it! The demo I have tried though was, IMO, distinctly underwhelming and I really cannot see what all the fuss is about the game. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's crap or anything, just that it's simply not for me. The graphics are lousy though, makes me wonder why they bothered using the UE3 because nowhere does it show in the visuals.

    Call me pariah but I thought it was a reasonably good fun, dunno what moaners is on about the graphics is reasonably fine for a small game. Agreed it is quite short and that is a negative point but man, this is certainly not among the worse games in Marketplace and no I am not easily pleased!

    This game sucked. Even for free.

    @ Eldritch Agree with you on Rez. I'd have paid 1200 points for that.

    Its actually one of the prettiest xbla games. And at the time it arrived it was the prettiest hands down. All game critics agree on this and graphics is not subjective so is not much a matter of taste either.

    Is this the expansion that adds the fun?
  • Monkey_Puncher #16 4 years ago

    It got excellent reviews on most game sites, I really don't see why though. I downloaded the demo and couldn't get into it, I have the full version sitting my hardrive from when it was free, I'm yet to find any motivation to actually play it though.

    meh seems appropiate

    I hated this game for a long time, until I finally tried some co-op on it. Its actually not that bad, and can be quite enjoyable.

    It's a good game IMO.Most of you lot need a valium or crack fix to put a smile on your face anyway!
