Uncharted 2 demo on PS3 Store today
No sign of Battlefield: Bad Company 2.
Sony's released a single-player demo of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves on the PlayStation Store.
This belated sampler hopes to do what a 10/10 score and Game of the Year award from Eurogamer couldn't, and pursuade you to buy this magnificent PS3 game.
Sony's also released the PlayStation Heroes Skin Pack for Uncharted 2, which offers costumes from inFamous, Killzone 2 and Resistance 2.
The first batch of DLC for Assassin's Creed II, The Battle of Forli, is also available today. We'd suggest saving your money, as our freshly-published Battle of Forli review explains.
There's little else besides an Army of Two PSP demo and free car pack for Gran Turismo PSP to get excited about.

Is that a dynamic theme??

The few dynamic themes I've bought have all been a reasonable £1.19 or so... what makes the Uncharted 2 one worth the three-fold increase in price?

probably because PS3 got the beta.

not if you pay for live.

Uncharted 2 deserves to be one of the best selling games of all time imo.

It's not a theme as the news article implies but rather a bunch of multiplayer skins.
Which of course is still too expensive.

But I guess that would be to embarrassing for the Tomb Raider developers as the (lack of) quality of their own game graphics and character rendition would be very much on display then

Someone on the PS3 blog suggested it's been delayed to push sales of MAG. Would make sense.

I guess Naughty Dog were so busy trying to beat the crunch for year end releases they couldn't put together a demo without losing time they needed for the game.

Demos are a luxury - not a necessity - and it annoys me when people react like they're owed such things.

Maybe I'm just an iconoclast. Hell, my 2009 GOTY was Risen!

Given how untrustworthy reviews are these days I think it's vital to have a demo of a game before buying it. Imagine if there had been no demo for Dark Void for instance! It doesn't even bare thinking about!

By all accounts, that game went through developer hell. Having to get demos ready in a fit state for submission to Sony and Microsoft alongside finishing the game itself can't have helped matters. Every day spent working on those demos is a day away from working on the main game - multiply that day by however many people are making those demos and you get a considerable number of man-hours that aren't being devoted to bug-fixes and polish.
I refuse to believe that the Dark Void demo was more successful at putting people off buying the game than the sea of mediocre reviews. Yet I'm damn sure that the Dark Void demo resulted in a less polished game and plenty of over-time for quite a few coders.

So... I went into WHSmith and - would you believe it - they had no "Happy Groundhog Day" cards? I asked them why and that explained that we don't celebrate obscure Pennsylvanian holidays here in Europe. Who would have thought?
