Ubisoft doing Avatar game
Cameron demands "best work".
Hollywood director James Cameron wants Ubisoft to pull out all the stops when creating the game to accompany his latest film Avatar.
It'll be the first big-screen project we've seen from the Terminator and Aliens creator for a decade, the last being Titanic in 2007. And he is insistent Ubisoft doesn't create just another movie tie-in.
"I told the Ubisoft team I wanted them to be free to do their very best work, and not think of this as a movie-based game," said James Cameron in a press release.
"They responded with a fully realised presentation which captured the soul of the world and the characters, while promising to be a knock-out game on its own terms. Their passion inspired my confidence that they are going to do something transcendental."
Unfortunately specifics on the game are scarce, and Ubisoft was unable to give Eurogamer any information earlier regarding platforms, dates or gameplay details.
Avatar takes place 200 years in the future, and is centred around an ex-marine thrust unwillingly into a colonisation project on an exotic planet. This new world is rich in things us greedy humans want, and will get - if our exploitation schemes go to plan.
But our hero soon finds himself with a conscience and ends up leading the aliens in a battle for survival. The same aliens that can apparently manifest themselves by possessing humans, hence the name Avatar.
'Still would' Sigourney Weaver is in it, alongside Sam Worthington and sultry Zoe Saldana to name a few.
"For the movie 'Avatar' we are creating a world rich in character, detail, conflict and cultural depth. It has the raw material for a game that the more demanding gamers of today will want to get their hands on - one that is rich in visuals and ideas, and challenging in play," continued James Cameron.
Look out for more information soon.

There are other studios that might pull it off but Starbreeze would be a good choice.
