Smash Bros. Brawl Euro date
Late June. Plus lots of other Nintendo dates.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl will be released on 27th June in Europe, Nintendo said today.
Having puffed out its chest about Wii hardware and software sales and announced European WiiWare details this morning, Nintendo has also issued a bunch of release dates and SSBB was among them.
At a glance, there's nothing massively new and fascinating elsewhere on the list (and indeed some of it is slightly less detailed information than what we already have - we know Boom Blox is out on 9th May, for instance, whereas this list just says May), but there are a few unknown quantities tucked away in its depths.
Family Ski, for instance, is down as 13th June, and Cooking Guide: Can't Decide What to Eat? from Nintendo claims to be out in June as well.

Did this not strike them as a slightly odd time to be releasing a ski game?

Surely it's the perfect time? There's fuck all chance of skiing in Europe then, so the virtual will have to do!

Whats Wacky Races though, the version I played on the DC wasnt too bad, but is there any point with Mario Karts available?

Too late - you missed the Eurobus.
I'll now try to hold out for a black US Wii, and grab a load of games for cheap once I've gotten bored with GTA IV & NG2.
That could take a looooooong time.
Shame.

BiscuitBase, were you paid by Sony to write that or something? I mean, come on, the way you wrote sounds like you're quoting a press release or something... Besides, we don't even know how good Haze is gonna be (don't get me wrong, I'm a Free Radical fan and when it comes to PC I'll probably pick it up) whereas Smash IS amazing (having played an import at a friend's).
This date is after my exams, which is good for me. Something to look forward to (if it had come out earlier it would only have distracted from revision).

Edit: Looking at this list further it looks like utter nonsense as none of the dates match actual releases. Isn't this just some estimated thing that's already out of date.

That said I've still got a lazy lob on, I fucking love Smash Bros. You can poke your Haze up your arse biscuitboy.

24-Apr-08 11:47:41 Sorry Nintendo, I won't have time to play any of these games, I'll be too busy playing the ps3 exclusive next-gen first person shooter HAZE
Sucks to be you then

Good to have the Euro date, finally, no doubt, but curiously it's the thing that's finally convinced me to take the plunge with importing.

They probably mean the first quarter of the financial year '08/'09, which would be in May, June or July.

That and Lego Indiana Jones were the only games I wanted between now and some decent announcements!

Cya Nintendo Europe, I'm outta here (again).
Was waiting for that. Woot, apparently it even works on some US GC games when used with the Wii. Nice work Codejunkies.

"They probably mean the first quarter of the financial year '08/'09, which would be in May, June or July."
I doubt it.
For a start it is May, June and July in the UK. For a lot of the EU (Nintendo is in Germany) the financial and calendar year are the same now. Previously Q1 2008 would have started in October 2007 for most (IIRC).
Q1 is gone, unless this is their way of covering their asses; if you don't specify what Q1 is and no-one can ever accuse you of slipping.
Edit: It appears I might be talking out my ass about the German fiscal year being the same as the calendar year, apologies if I am.

I disagree, although I love my freeloader
Unless of course you're the kind of stupid person who ends up getting steeped in hype and expects things that will never happen. If you're like that, you're only gonna enjoy games that come out of the blue...
