Prince of Persia remake coming to PSN News

PlayStation 3 News by Ellie Gibson

13 October, 2008

A remake of the original Prince of Persia game is set to appear on PlayStation Network.

That's according to PlayStation.com, which confirms it'll feature new character designs, animations, controls and content. There are also three game modes, including Time Attack and Survival.

Sounds pretty much identical to Prince of Persia Classic, which was release on Xbox Live Arcade last year. The game "beautifully celebrates a genuine gaming legend", our reviewer wrote, before adding, "7/10". There's no word on a price or a release date for the PSN version yet.

In the meantime, there's always the next fully-fledged POP game to look forward to. Keep an eye out for our hands-on impressions later this week.

I think I suck at the original PoP a whole lot. I either die because I don't see something coming, or get lost. Still, nice to have the option to be awful at something again.

I'd prefer a nice hi-def, hi-res version of Sands Of Time. (And someone could do the same for Soul Reaver too.)

Oh good. I heard this was quite good on the XBLA. I think I'll buy it.

I quite enjoyed this on XBLA but mostly for nostalgic reasons as it was a favourite of mine from back then. Some of the gameplay elements don't hold up that well today, with the prince still being a bit too fuzzy about being placed exactly so and some of your presses taking a while to register, resulting in a fair few unfair deaths, but still an enjoyable platformer nonetheless.
