Play Team Fortress 2 for free

You've got all weekend to try it out.

Valve is giving those who've never played Team Fortress 2 the chance to try out the PC version for free this weekend.

As of today, you'll be able to pre-load the game via the Steam store. Then you've got until Tuesday to give it a go.

It's all to celebrate the release of the new Spy vs. Sniper update, which is also due out today. Visit TeamFortress.com for the full lowdown.

    Wait . . .

    Wait . . .

People don't have TF2 or the Orange Box? O_O

All these heathens need to pick it up immediately!

Jarate - the ability to throw urine at people.

Methinks Valve is getting a bit carried away.

TF2 is ace! Just can't get tired of it.

PS: All this updates are FREE, none of that paying for 2/3 maps rubbish

Spies and snipers updating at the same time? Time to fill out those pyro achievements. :)

Jarate! They actually added it! Fantastic! :D

Yes, they're certainly taking the piss.

    *legs it*

Personally, I think the Jarate idea is golden.

Why now? Patch updates are normally a pretty wretched time for TF2 but right at the start of Spy/Sniper week? TF2 is going to look like the worst game ever.

This update is going to be pyro-heaven. Amateur spies and snipers all over the place!

I have the Orange Box and played this once or twice when I first got it but haven't touched it since. Is it worth going back to? I remember being a little confused about where to go and what to defend.

    @lemonfist

    Heh, you got that right!

I'm gonna be up all night farming spy noobs :p

Can I get a HUDDA HUDDA HUDDA! from the rest of the pyro crowd?

Definitely worth going back to, but if you start this weekend just remember that the game doesn't normally have that many snipers or spies. It'll be painful to be a medic for the next few days. :)

And if you're on the 360 version then you won't have the updates yet, they're gonna wait until they've finished all classes before they bring out the 360 update (they're also having memory problems on the 360).

    @ Doragor

Valve helpfully has a video recorded for each official map that you can watch to get the general gist of the map. As you enter a server, there's a "watch video" button at the bottom of the screen. Click it and it should help you get to grips with it.

TF2 is well worth a crack at, IMHO. Best MP shooter out there by far.

Only excuse left not to at least try TF2 is if you bought a computer in the 80s. Get in people!
