No new DLC for Green Day: Rock Band

Plus: full tracklist revealed within.

Harmonix has revealed that no additional downloadable songs will be offered for Green Day: Rock Band.

The developer is "sculpting" unique, motion-captured video-walls and assets for each track, and that's "not really practical" for open-ended DLC, project leader Chris Foster told Plastic Axe (via 1UP).

However, the six existing downloadable Green Day songs will be given the hand-crafted treatment and fit nicely into the "three-album game" template.

Like The Beatles: Rock Band, Green Day: Rock Band will not allow songs to be exported freely to other Rock Band games, although an option to purchase a licence and export the tracks will be offered.

The full Green Day: Rock Band tracklist can be found below. Green Day: Rock Band will be released in June on PS2, PS3, Wii and Xbox 360.

Tempting, but no Kerplunk = no sale
  • CaptainQuint #2 2 years ago

Fantastic. Jesus of Surburbia is reason enough for me to get this.
  • wizlon #3 2 years ago

Not enough off Nimrod and Insomniac and too much from 21 Century Breakdown... But I reckon this might be worth getting.
  • PlugMonkey #4 2 years ago

    What wizlon said.

Predictable enough, though. At least we get all of Dookie.
  • Murton #5 2 years ago

When I read the words "three album game" I thought "Dookie, Insomniac, Nimrod" those are the definitive Green Day in my mind.

Then I noticed that it's more the new post-Warning Green Day, not the good Green Day from my youth, so like Sir Tim I'm afraid this is a no brainer, no sale.

Quick question: As an adopter of Guitar Hero, do Rockband titles ever do disc only releases? I don't need more guitars.

"Quick question: As an adopter of Guitar Hero, do Rockband titles ever do disc only releases? I don't need more guitars."

Yup, you can get solus editions without instruments. The first RockBand is on sale in Blockbusters for 8 quid, bargain if you already have a guitar.

Yes, always. And de-adopt Guitar Hero. It doesn't compare.

As for the track-list, couldn't be any better for me, my 3 favourite GD albums, plus a couple of great tracks from the others (although no King For A Day is a shame). Day one purchase, especially given it's £30 everywhere. 9 minute Jesus of Surburbia is going to be epic.

They should do Rock Band: Dream Theatre.

A Change of Seasons will ruin anyone's hands forever.

I get the feeling a game that 5 people in the world could play on anything above medium wouldn't sell that well.

PatAU: Can't decide whether to rate you up for the great idea of down for spelling it "Theatre"... up it is, THIS TIME
  • Valis #11 2 years ago

dudefella, there's a speeling mistook in your post complaining about a spelling mistake.
  • andywilkie35 #12 2 years ago

Dookie and American Idiot make this a day one purchase for me. 21st Century Breakdown is just an added bonus.
  • Eraysor #13 2 years ago

I second a Dream Theater edition. Playing through the whole of Metropolis Pt. 2 would be pretty mindblowing.
  • Toothball #14 2 years ago

Could have done with more Insomniac and Nimrod, plus any of Kerplunk. Still going to get it though as I'm a sucker for Rock Band.
  • cnlfailure #15 2 years ago

Doesn't import into my master Rock Band install? Not interested.

Green Day are not the Beatles.
  • darleysam #16 2 years ago

Really missing out without Kerplunk or some more off Insomniac..
  • andywilkie35 #17 2 years ago

    @cnlfailure

It does import, just that like Lego Rock Band and the original Rock Band, you'll have to pay extra to do it.
  • Murton #18 2 years ago

I'd love to see that, Octavarium would be insane, no way you'd 100% that monster, even on easy your hands would cramp up before it ends its mighty 24 minutes of win.

The yanks have a SE that includes the six tracks released on the RB Store already and a free export but it doesn't look like its coming here. They also have a pre-order bonus with Gamestop where you can pre-order and get the export free so it might be worth checking GAME or wherever to see if anyone is doing it.

Also, check the wording. There wont be any new DLC for Green Day: Rock Band but it doesn't say anything about DLC for the main series. More than likely RB3 will have something by Green Day (Along with AC/DC and Hendrix) and there are openings for more packs and possibly finishing off albums.

@They should do Rock Band: Dream Theater

Just for some finger torture i'd love a dillinger escape plan rock band game:)
  • cnlfailure #21 2 years ago

    @many

Aha, in that case I shall add it to the list to be acquired.
  • Boomerang #22 2 years ago

All this talk of Kerplunk makes me think of a perfect Wii game...

  • wizlon #23 2 years ago

HMV have this on pre order for £25, even without any free import bonuses this is a pretty good price.
  • RobotRocker #24 2 years ago

Reminder: That Import is 800 points so around £6-7 in regular money. Pricey but that's record companies for ya.
