Next DS won't have motion sensor after all
Comments "misinterpreted", says Nintendo.
Nintendo has denied that the next iteration of the DS will feature a motion sensor and more graphical power.
Company president Satoru Iwata was reported as making the claims last week. But according to Nintendo there's been a misunderstanding.
"Mr Iwata did not make any comments regarding the functions of Nintendo's future hardware systems," a representative told Kotaku. "The answer to the reporter's question was misinterpreted."
Kotaku stands by its original translation of the comments, which appeared in the Asahi Shimbun newspaper. Nintendo says it was the paper's reporter who was responsible for the mix-up.

Given the popularity of the current DS I very much doubt that will be the case. It's a household name.

So was the Gameboy ...

& More comfortable grip position too - I stopped playing Zelda: SPirit Tracks as the hand cramps were getting too painful.
Get these right and then worry about your fancy new "tech" features - I'm only asking for changing some of the plastic bits - I want next-gen plastic!

Ah, but Nintendo never intended for the DS to succeed the Gameboy line. The circumstances were different at the time.

Yeah, from what I recall they came up the DS name so as not to infringe on the reputation of the Gameboy, saying that it was not a successor but a new product. The loss of the GBA port on the DSi probably marked the end of the Gameboy, as I don't see them going back to it now.

"I'd be more concerned about the fact that their talking about a 'successor' so soon after releasing the DSI... "
Not concerning in the slightest.
Every year a new generation of gamers joins the hobby. It's great that they can buy an evolved and greatly improved DS that has kept up with the times. Naturally the big 3 are always going to be working on successors.

"Next DS won't have motion sensor after all " , " Nintendo has denied that the next iteration of the DS will feature a motion sensor and more graphical power"
Both completely incorrect headlines..Nintendo said no such thing. They simply said the story was misinterperated and they hadn't talked about future products. You're getting as bad as the tabloids.
