Oddworld Stranger renamed, dated
EA opts for something more in the "spirit of the game".
Xbox exclusive Oddworld Stranger is now known as Oddworld Stranger's Wrath, Electronic Arts advised this week, claiming that the revised title "better reflects the spirit of the game".
The publisher also gave the game an official US release date of January 25th. Electronic Arts in the UK still lists the game as "2005", but we understand we should be able to get our hands on it in spring.
The latest Oddworld title - the first since Xbox launch title Munch's Odyssey - puts the player in the role of "Stranger", who's a "rough and tumble bounty hunter who tracks down outlaws for moolah". You can get a better impression by reading through past coverage of the game, including a chat with Oddworld Inhabitants' Lorne Lanning.
As you may recall, Oddworld Stranger had originally been due out on Xbox and PS2, but it seems that the PlayStation 2 port - handled by an external team - has endured some of the wrath EA mentioned, and has since been consigned to history.

I'm just happy none of the upcoming games I was looking forward to on Live, are EA titles - having experienced the shambolic crap they tout as a gaming service. Why not just use the Live servers, like everyone else?
Hope stranger still turns out to be a good game, although I'm sure they'll now try to work in some kind of snowboarding style scene, with a nice little box popping up in the bottom left to tell you you're listening to Blink 182.
