More Assassin's Creed confusion

Is it coming to PC and 360 or not?

Look out, Internet Reports is up to his old tricks again! This time, the naughty prankster has been running round telling everyone that Assassin's Creed is coming to PC and Xbox 360 as well as PS3.

Rumours of this kind have been floating around for ages now, but according to Reports, they were officially confirmed by Ubisoft at the recent Interactive Digital Entertainment Festival in France.

Or were they? Well, a Ubisoft spokesperson told Eurogamer: "We have not said anything," adding that they don't like to comment on rumour or speculation.

And over on the Ubi forums, UK community manager UbiRazz wrote: "Ubisoft have confirmed no such thing. Assassin's Creed will come on PlayStation 3 and at this time, no other platform has been confirmed."

At this time, eh? So that doesn't mean the game won't appear on 360 or PC... Though it could of course turn up a good while after the PS3 version if there's some kind of timed exclusive going on.

I think i remember them saying ages ago that it was for the 360 aswell no?
  • salvadorlimones #2 6 years ago

they can even make it for commodore 64, i dont care. all i want is mass effect for pc. damn you bioware for making me buy xbox!
  • Mordum #3 6 years ago

This certainly seems like a game that is interesting alot of people. If Sony manage/have managed to get this as 100% exclusive, then it could turn out to be a great move.
If not, then that'll be another reason to keep the money in the pocket come the launch of PS3 (if it becomes available on 360 or PC aswell).
Sony will need to grab as many exclusives as they can, multi-platform games will not sell their console (when you can buy multi-platform games cheaper, on the less expensive rival consoles).
  • Xerx3s #4 6 years ago

Well, not exactly a rumour is it? More like a public secret. I mean, it was announced at X'05 and knowing ubisoft, there will most likely be psp and DS version on the way as well.

I say a timed exclusive of 6 months. Dear god, did I just turn into an "Internet Reports"? ;p

I thought that ME was a timed exxclusive for the 360 with a PC version following(?). If not, then it will be just as 'exclusive' as JE (comming to the pc as well).

Mass efffect is xbox 360 only unless microsoft decide to publish it on pc.. but bioware have already said this will not be until the whole trilogy has been realeased so we are talking dec 2009 if at all

    Who cares?

    History's rubbish, apparently.
  • Bluetooth #8 6 years ago

You're right, this is all so confusing. What we need is Jade Raymond to clear it up for us in another interview.

Not sure I'd trust anybody called UbiRazz. There's something disturbingly sexual about that name, can't put my finger on it.
Have you ever watched Time Team? History IS rubbish, mostly broken pottery and middens and things.
  • Vin #10 6 years ago

That's just a load of wank, really.
  • CrumpetBoy #11 6 years ago

Thinking about it, maybe some sort of midden simulation element is what's lacking in the stealth genre. I mean, a trained assassin could be sitting in a tree or an alleyway or a cupboard for hours - it stands to reason bladder-strainage would become an issue of life or death after a while. I think it would really help the next gen of stealth games stand out if this were taken into account: light-level meters are all very well but urine level could potentially be far more pressing in a stand-off. The guards in MGS would peg their alert level up a bit if they discovered a Sprite can full of still-warm Snake-pee, surely? The gritty realism of the assassin's trade... I hear that Blu-Ray actually has a Smell-O-Vision channel designed into the disk, although you do need a special cable.

So Ubisoft are confirming they won't confirm anything? I thought Sony were bad. Doesn't anyone give a f*cking straight answer any more?

When I learned Mass Effect was a trilogy and would feature entire planets for download from Live, I almost had a Joy Overdose.

Ooh, the plot thickens. The Norwegian games site Gamer.no apparently called Ubisofts Nordic Product Manager Harald Horsberg who confirmed that the game is PS3 exclusive. I really wish they could make up their minds. :-/
  • numptyboymatt #15 6 years ago

Well, Play.Com have this on pre-order for the 360 and have done for aaaaggggeeeesss, possibly since the dawn of time.

As far as I knew, this was always coming out for the 360 AND the PS3 (or should that be PSŁ ? - do you see what I did there? lol), and its only recently that all this hype about it being a PS3 exclusive has arisen.

I remain unconvinced that we wont see this on the 360.
  • Tonka #16 6 years ago

It's the worlds first time-exclusive-exclusives. The game will launch simultainiously on all platforms but MS wont be aloud to do any publicity until 2weeks before launch. Untill that time it'll remain PS3 exclusive.
  • Fatnick #17 6 years ago

"and at this time, no other platform has been confirmed."

Surely, if it Sony had paid for it to be PS3 exclusive, they'd say so?
Considering the 'exclusivity' of the original Splinter Cell, im sure this will find its way to onto the: PC/360/Wii/xbox/ps2/ps1/saturn/gamecube/DS/PSP/GBA/Megadrive /Snes/Spectrum/Amiga/C64
  • Dizzy #18 6 years ago

It is coming out for 360, only a bit later. Nuff said.
  • UncleLou #19 6 years ago

Mass Effect is massively previewed in the pc mags over here. Draw your own conclusions...
  • Blerk #20 6 years ago

Doesn't anyone give a f*cking straight answer any more?

Not when they've been paid not to.

Who said this was a launch title?

EDIT: FattyNick - yeah that makes sense. Usually companies make HUGE things of exclusives. The fact that Sony is not shouting from the rooftops tells me they are not sure - which probably mean MS have a great deal of money on the table.

why would ubi not release it on multi platforms i mean b4 its even been released its opbvious its going to be a big seller so they will release it on multi platforms to make more money after all they are a business and i dont reckon sony will have put their hands deep enuff in their pockets to keep it ps3 exclusive, if therte have been 8m or so 360s sold thats another 8m potential sales for ubi so why restrict it??

    no brainer really!!!!
  • ralphwolfenstein #24 6 years ago

the days of the 3rd party exclusive (from a western publisher at least) are long gone...

  • Xerx3s #25 6 years ago

Z0MG! C64 version it is then!

    /sold
  • Blerk #26 6 years ago

    Pfft! Speccy version ftw!
  • morriss #27 6 years ago

The game might be rubbish. Anyone thought of that?
  • Steroyd #28 6 years ago

well it must be very good if people keep constantly linking the game as multi-platform even though the official stance is it's currently only on the PS3.

I find it wierd that Ubi are keeping hush hush about this it really is, considering that they've announced the PS3 version which won't have the same installed userbase as the Xbox 360 at this time it really is odd.

Or this could be like the Final Fantasy VII situation... stuff like this has happened in the past.

It kind of makes me scratch my head in bewilderment as to why this game has become so anticipated. Sure if looks great but we really have seen very little of any game play yet and what we have seen in game play looked nothing special.

Still I guess this can be said of lots of anticipated games.
  • miiiguel #30 6 years ago

I strongly believe that there'll be very, very few exclusives this generation. Maybe 2-3 a year (not counting on the ones released/made by MS/Sony/Ninty).
  • Azazel #31 6 years ago

The game might be rubbish. Anyone thought of that?

    Uh, Yes?

And it's probably anticipated because of the interesting source material and the fact it's being produced by a studio with a pretty nice track record. And er, assassins rox0z1!2

Well, those are my personal reasons for keeping an interested eye on it. No great mystery.
  • JediMasterMalik #32 6 years ago

Not to mention the main character (as far as we know) has a cool name.
  • Fatnick #33 6 years ago

Think of GTA. What do you associate it with, the PS2 or the Xbox? I think the answer to that question is also the ansewer to the AC mystery. Why do you need to purchase full exclusivity? If you can get in advertised as a PS3 game, and get it onto the PS3 first (even if only by a couple of weeks) it will effectively become a PS3 game. Without the, presumably large, outlay needed to persuade Ubi to not release it on anything else.
