Fuller Guitar Hero II songlist

23 on it now, inc. Spinal Tap.

Yet more of Guitar Hero II's track listing has been revealed in the October issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly, following last month's excellent revelation that we'll be rocking out to Freebird and Sweet Child O' Mine.

Quite a few of the listings we already knew about, but we hadn't heard about Nirvana's Heart-Shaped Box, Alice in Chains' Them Bones or The Rolling Stones' Can You Hear Me Knocking?, nor The Police's Message in a Bottle. The inclusion of Spinal Tap's Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight ought to raise a few eyebrows too.

The full list of tracks featured in EGM - confirmed to us by a RedOctane representative and including all the ones we already knew about - follows. Expect more tracks to be added to the list, expected to hit 40 licensed songs with around 15 from unsigned groups.

The full game's due out in the US and Europe this November, and will be available with the gigantic guitar peripheral or separately.

  • Alice in Chains - Them Bones
  • Allman Brothers Band - Jessica
  • Anthrax - Madhouse
  • Avenged Sevenfold - Beast and the Harlot
  • Black Sabbath - War Pigs
  • Butthole Surfers - Who Was In My Room Last Night?
  • Dick Dale - Misirlou
  • Guns N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine
  • Heart - Crazy On You
  • KISS - Strutter
  • Lamb of God - Laid to Rest
  • Lynyrd Skynrd - Freebird
  • Motley Crue - Shout at the Devil
  • Nirvana - Heart-Shaped Box
  • The Police - Message in a Bottle
  • The Pretenders - Tattooed Love Boys
  • Primus (original recording) - John the Fisherman
  • Reverend Horton Heat - Psychobilly Freakout
  • The Rolling Stones - Can You Hear Me Knocking?
  • Rushn - YYZ
  • Spinal Tap - Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight
  • Stone Temple Pilots - Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart

Pleased with Them Bones, def. Best song on the Street Fighter II anime soundtrack, if you ask me. Which you didn't.

At least three or four showstopper here...

... now, who wants to do the final part of the Sweet Child of Mine solo? It is probably the fastest solo featured in this and the first game...

/me caresses his real Gibson, and gives the SCoM solo another try...

I think you'll find that YYZ was performed by Rush, rather than the little-known Rushn.

The inclusion of Spinal Tap is inspired. Made my day, that has.

  • Stickman #8 6 years ago

If there's a solo faster than Bark at the Moon on expert, then I'll eat my cut-off denim waistcoat.

Alice in Chains - Them Bones

    YEEEEES!

That, Freebird and YYZ are my most anticipated tracks on GH2.
  • adman123 #10 6 years ago

Lamb Of God, now thats a freekin awsome surprise, fuck yes!

Personally I think Avenged Sevenfold is also another awsome addition, but each to their own.
The songs both classic and new on this version seem to be getting awsomer by the second, cant wait.

@ManicMinerUk: SCoM has a big sweep scale in the middle (which is a nightmare to play right, if I may add), and the final HO-PO is very fast but similar to a part of Crossroads solo, but the second part of the solo features a lot of scales intertwined with HO and PO that if renditioned note per note as Bark of the Moon solo I think they can be very hard, since they are much more irregular. The final solo of Bark at the Moon is much easier to play, while the first one has the sweep part which is as hard as it gets. But my impression is that the SCoM solo was faster in the end but if you've done the comparision I'm sure you're right.

    @ManicMinerUk: KILLING IN THE NAME??????
I want to play bass on that!!!!
  • Zomoniac #13 6 years ago

Killing In The Name??? Where??? NEEDAGE. Although I prefer the solo in Know Your Enemy.

And Message In A Bottle is a much appreciated addition. They should pull out the shite like GnR though :)

It would be amazing if Hatebreeder by Chidren of Bodom was on it. The solos would be mental though, but fun :)
  • DDevil #15 6 years ago

No love for Slayer? Bit of Angel Of Death would do nicely I think :-D

And now I've got that Spinal Tap song stuck in my head!
  • gamesb*tch #16 6 years ago

Butthole Surfers LOL That should have it off Woolies shelves before you can say 'Locust Abortion technician" or "Hairway to Stephen" :/

"Heart - Crazy On You" - It's a good song, but why didn't they choose Barracuda(Heart/Album: Little Queen) that would have been perfect for GH2.

Still the song list is spectacular so far, maybe with the intro to "Van Halen - You Really Got Me" they could have you play "Erruption". Now that would be GH chaos in a very good way.
  • dudefella #18 6 years ago

Still really needs some Iron Maiden, but that's probably too expensive or something. Same for (old) Metallica.

But yeah, some Rage Against the Machine would be awesome.
  • kangarootoo #19 6 years ago

Hehe, I was just going to post something along the lines of "Wow, Alice in Chains, now that takes me back, Them Bones has a killer riff, etc" but it seems I am far from alone :)

A real mixed bag there. The fellow guitarists among you might agree that Message in a Bottle has a great main melody (and is surprisingly complex on the drums I might add, given its quite a light song at first glance). War Pigs is also a great and obvious choice (daaaaa da da daaaaa daa didldidldidldidldidl).
  • AHiFi #20 6 years ago

I would have preferred Sludge Factory; but Them Bones will do. =]
  • Kostabi #21 6 years ago

    Needs more cowbell.

KISS KISS KISS. Shame they always have the same song every time, I can only take so much of Strutter. It's a great song, but after 100 hours of it on San Andreas, I got a bit sick of it.
  • CordableTuna #25 6 years ago

Ciaran: Well, I can remember three off the top of my head in GH, so I think you have hope. Although I don't know if many people would like to hear the Breaking Wheel again. :)
  • whoslotte #26 6 years ago

Damn. I was hoping for 'Sex Farm'.
  • Zomoniac #27 6 years ago

    To Kangarooto

All Police songs have insanely complex drum parts, because Copeland is a god and beyond the realms of normal humanity.
  • kangarootoo #28 6 years ago

There be the truth (the bugger).
  • DUFFMAN5 #29 6 years ago

"Working on a sex farm, getting out my pitch fork, poking your hay" or "I met her on Monday twas my lucky bun day.....big bottom.....That is what we need to be playing....it's very hard to dust for vomit!

    OH YEAH!
