New Prince of Persia has co-op on Wii
A first for the action-adventure series.
Ubisoft has revealed co-op support for the Wii version of Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands.
This will allow a friend to join the action and "manipulate traps, slow down enemies, uncover hidden secrets and utilise powers", according to a Ubisoft fact sheet.
More importantly, this will be the first "true co-op experience" introduced into a Prince of Persia game.
Ubisoft hasn't mentioned this feature in conjunction with any other version of Forgotten Sands.
What's more, the Wii game will include an on-disc playable copy of Prince of Persia, which was released on the SNES way back in 1992.
Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands will accompany the new Jake Gyllenhaal Prince of Persia film and be released here in May.

Well, if this co-op is anything like Mario Galaxy's, like kinky_mong points out, it would be a lot harder to implement on other systems without motion controls. If you're not controlling a second character, using a controller could be more of an annoyance to the main player than anything else. Not to mention it would probably crowd the screen a lot more.
There could, however, be something fun to be done with Sixaxis on the PS3. Not nearly the same as the Wii, but maybe enjoyable if someone's just watching you play.

The SNES version was the definitive2D POP, I think, so it's good that's getting another outing.

When the player playing the prince is being attacked by some enemies, the second player can put mircromachines and ball bearings on the floor to make them trip over and fall into the bathtub full of kerosene, before setting them on fire with the blowtorch that was rigged to a door handle.
