Naughty Dog keen to bring Jak back

A PS3 game "might be on the cards".

Naughty Dog community manager Arne Meyer has said the studio is keen to do a PS3 instalment in the Jak and Daxter series.

"We definitely hear a lot from our Jak fans and we'd love to be able to be working on a new Jak product at some point," he told Eurogamer. "That might be on the cards."

But does "product" mean a new PS3 title? "We'd like to work on it," said Meyer.

At the moment, however, the studio has its hands full with Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. "Right now, we're really focused on working through this franchise," Meyer added.

A release date for Uncharted 2 has yet to be announced, but in the meantime you can read all about it on the gamepage.

Yeah, bring back Jak & Daxter as long as its more like the superb first instalment and less like the not-so-good second and third ones!

2nd was better than the first, storyline, graphics, gameplay everything. It had guns but it was no ratchet and clank shootemup with minimal exploration and platforming (only 4 of them), much more balanced. It still had amazing worlds to explore (within its already huge open world) and as mentioned a lot of platforming, with varied gameplay/mission design.

It had a bit more angst but with a huge sense of humour, it was no POP: Warrior Within. Pecker the parrot and Daxter were hilarious. Even the self depreciating humour when Daxter remarks on how Jak can talk now, the game is full of stuff like that.

Haven't played the 3rd apart from the demo. My impression from the reviews was that it seemed a jack of all trades game, with even less platforming, but the actual platforming levels were still top knotch.

I'm with Darren on this one, more like the first, less like 2 & 3.

There is a new PSP/PS2 one later this year, hopefully that will be awsome too.

@freedumb: don't agree with you personally, thought the 2nd and 3rd were very average and it was a shame that they didn't stick with the platforming style from the first.

however, if you enjoyed the 2nd game you really need to play the 3rd. The story was actually what kept me playing through the story missions, it all gets wrapped up really nicely at the end :)

I thought the second Jak game was incredible, but I would also probably prefer it to be more like the even superior first game

Yeah from what I've seen the script and the cutscenes still maintain their high quality in the 3rd :)

It's been on my list for a longtime and I've never got round to it, but with the ps2/psp new game coming out I'll probably pick up both when the time comes. I thought the second one was one of the most visually impressive (and one of the best fullstop) games on the PS2, Naughty Dog have some impressive tech (along with Insomniac), none/minimal loading as well. After R+C Future on the PS3 looked amazing, you can imagine what a new PS3 Jak will look like :D

Hey, ND, just add the Jak model as an easter egg to Uncharted 2!

Have it unlock along with the Platinum Trophy or something and there you go!

I thought Jak 3 was the best. I thought they used the open world/city very well. You could just walk around blowing up things for ages.
And please, bring Jak to PS3! (polish up Uncharted 2 first of course)

I thought the first game was the best, didn't like the whole shooting mechanic added into the 2nd and 3rd, owned em both but never got round to completing them there wasn't as much charm as the first :(

Yep i haven't played Jak 3 I'm finishing off Jak 2 right now (I know get with the times) & i can see why everyone thought it was frustrating, it seems they turned it into more of a combat racing/action game I LOVED the 1st, one of my favorite ps2 games, if Naughty Dog decide to make another Jake & Daxter i just hope it's actually a platformer.

Jak 1 FTW (as those crazy kids might say).

The others were good, but thebrilliant level design and sheer delight of the first game beats them hands down.

I love all three J and D games, especially the third, so I would be thrilled to see them return.
Although after looking at the cover art for Jak X, all I can say is I hope he's grown his hair again and retained his goatee *hint hint* >=)
