Mythos fans "don't have to worry now"

HanbitSoft to make MMO "globally popular".

Korean company HanbitSoft assures us that Mythos is now back on track after acquiring the licence from sunken developer Flagship Studios last July.

"Many gamers have been worrying and wondering about Mythos," said HanbitSoft bigwig Yoora Kim in a statement, "but they don't have to worry now. We are doing our best to make the game globally popular."

To keep fans in the loop, Mythos designer "Alboos" will post regular updates on the status of the free-to-play, Diablo-like MMO.

"Right now, Mythos is in good condition and being reconstructed to become more suitable as an online game. We are trying to keep the strengths that the game used to have, and make them even stronger, while eliminating its weaknesses," he says in his first update.

"As many of you already know, Mythos has come from Diablo. We are trying to inherit those things you enjoyed and loved about Diablo, and put in more content for more exciting multiplayer."

"Our current development plan is focused on how to make the game more enjoyable to you and your friends, colleagues, and family," he adds.

Flagship Studios - also responsible for Hellgate: London - was formed by Blizzard North alumni Bill Roper, Max Schaefer, Erich Schaefer and David Brevik, hence the Diablo influence in Mythos.

They got Mythos as far as a suspended beta that we happened to enjoy a lot. HanbitSoft's Korean focus may alter the gameplay significantly, though.

After Flagship sunk, the Mythos team reformed as Runic Games and set to work on a very similar action-MMORPG called Torchlight. The developer claims that Torchlight "looks better and better", and will be showing the game at E3 this year.

E3 takes place from 2nd to 4th June, and we'll be there.

Played this in beta and loved it, really hope HanbitSoft have done a good job with finishing it and it's not gone all 2moons on us!

Really looking forward to this now I've read the preview. A shame about Flagship, really. Should have set its sights a tad lower. Hellgate was quite good. Namco sucks a*se for shutting down the servers. How long has it been out? 2 years? There should be consumer laws protecting against such things, after all we've paid for the game. We should, at the very least, be able to get our money back since the game is no longer functional as promised...

My local Game was still selling Hellgate at almost full price after the servers had gone down!
