Massive to make MMOs for Ubi

Probably Tom Clancy ones.

Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot has suggested that Massive Entertainment - the Swedish developer Ubi acquired from Activision Blizzard this week - will be put to work making MMOs.

"We just bought it from them since those guys have Blizzard so they didn't need that studio as much as we do, and those guys are extremely strong in RTS, so they are going to help us also get closer to the MMO space," said Guillemot - apparently assuming that success in RTS equates to success in MMOs, just because Blizzard did it.

But it seems Guillemot won't be tasking Massive with making his company's World of Warcraft just yet, according to Kotaku.

"Our goal there is to go first with light MMOs... that have been extremely popular in China but are also coming in the U.S. and Europe and are generating lots of good revenue, so our goal is first to start with light MMOs, and then in the future also come with RPG and RTS, also in the MMO space," Guillemot said.

In the past, the French publishing magnate has said that a Tom Clancy MMO was high on his to-do list. That would seem to be a good fit for World in Conflict developer Massive.

I want Ubisoft to create a MMO that takes place in the AssassinsCReeds universe. Maybe combine it with some aspects of Civilizations. Ow how cool would that be. PS: They could make it like a Medievel Europe/Assyrian worlds. With some cities like Jerusalem, Rome, Babylon, Sparta, Athene, Malta and Berlin. Make the gameworld move through time...like every RL day is two weeks in the gameworld. Making the MMO world move from 600AD to 1700 AD. And letting your characters get older...maybe with a reborn system.

@Lupaie great idea for an AC style MMO, but one that progressed in time wouldnt work, it'd have a fixed end point. Not so great for something that technically can be played ad infinatum.

A Clancy MMO could be good, play as various spec ops or terrorists....

Waste of talent, I say. Hopefully they won't be chained to doing this crap for too long.
