Mass Effect 2 DLC now live after delay

Kasumi's Stolen Memory held up.

Kasumi's Stolen Memory, the first paid downloadable content pack for Mass Effect 2, is now live.

The add-on for the BioWare space opera was due to release yesterday, but the Xbox 360 version didn't appear until the middle of the night, UK time.

IGN cited "server troubles" and was told by an Electronic Arts spokesman that the company was working with Microsoft to resolve the issue.

You can pick it up from the Xbox Live Marketplace for 560 Microsoft Points (£4.76 / €6.72). PC gamers can pay the same amount in the equivalent BioWare Points.

We've been playing Kasumi since early this morning; look out for our review soon.

I heard the latest batch of DLCs really fucked up the pc version of the game.

ah tits, I thought this was free on the Cerberus Network *loses all interest forever*
  • BBIAJ #3 2 years ago

Where's the free Firewalker stuff then, or whatever it's called? Or is it via Cerberus network only?

Judging by the one extra achievement similar to Zaeed's loyalty reward something tells me you don't get much value for your 560 points.

yeah, you dont get much for £4 these days...... oh wait, you never have.

Firewalker is on Cerberus and has been out a few weeks. It isn't very good though. Wouldn't say it has 'fucked up' my PC version though, the buttons are mapped differently to the onscreen prompts but thats the only thing I've noticed.

Would have helped if BioWare told their fans themselves, instead of IGN having to tell the community of the delay :(

Kasumi is an awesome character though. She has an attack where she disappears, appears to backstab an enemy before disappearing again to reappear back by your side. Throw in how many times I plan to redo this mission, I think I will spend more time on this than Perfect Dark.

One thing I love about ME2 is the skyline of urban areas like the Citadel and Illium. The DLC adds another. It was kinda funny how Americans blew up the Statue of Liberty after Canada and Mexico formed a coalition with USA, triggering a second civil war. Her quarters on the Normandy even feature an infinitely stocked bar I believe, good thing Shepard can't be done for being drunk on duty ;)

Masss Effect 2 is a helluva chunk of gaming... and as much as I like it (but annoyed at the lack of squad customization from ME1) I don't think I will grab any DLC for it. It gives a lot, and don't feel I need anymore (even if great) content.

My main problem with the DLC is that I finished the game after it had only been out for 5 days, and I don't really want to replay it just for the DLC.

Bought and downloaded the PC version this morning but won't have time to play until tonight. Rumor on the official forums have it, that even though the new mission content is pretty short - but supposedly great - Kasumi is a really great squad mate (as icematt12 pointed out), and the new SMG along with the flash bang grenade are both very powerful.

I'm looking forward to my play session tonight - I haven't played through the Firewalker content yet either.

Kasumi is a great character - her loyalty mission was longer than average and was pretty damn fun. The Locust SMG is also hellafuckingballstothewall awesome.

Worth the 560 points by a country mile, IMHO.

You don't have to replay the game. Just load up a save from before the final battle and jump straight to the DLC missions.

    @DanWhitehead

I hope you can do the mission after the final battle too?? Like the Hammerhead missons.
  • DanWhitehead #14 2 years ago

I presume so. I foolishly dove straight into a hardcore playthrough using my final save file, so I only have pre-battle saves.
  • metalangel #15 2 years ago

What, you don't get to pick your squad for each mission any more?!
  • UncleLou #16 2 years ago

rather I kind of get 'on a roll' with games like this and Fallout, Oblivion etc. They're not so pick-up-and-play and, as such, after I've finished them I lose the moment. If you know what I mean!

Yeah, completely agree. It's good that there's new stuff and I am happy for the people who like this kind of thing, but I much prefer full-blown addons like DA: Awakening for this kind of game.

Not really interested in paying for a token asian with a superfluous loyalty mission.

Possible, but totally, in my view, undermines the broad narrative that is supposed to exist. I just don't think ME2, which has such a tight, urgent-driven story, suits detours.

hmpf... sorely disappointed as I am by the notion of paying for this, perhaps it'll assist me on what is proving to be, so far, a bit of a miserable grind through "Insanity" level or whatever it's called. She'd need to be some sort of tank though.
