LBP GOTY edition for September

Bundles PSN DLC, special levels.

Sony has unveiled a Game of the Year edition of LittleBigPlanet, which will launch across North America on 8th September. There's no word on European plans yet.

Inside are 18 user-created levels commissioned specially for the GOTY pack, plus interviews with each of the head-hunted community crafters.

Seven of the DLC packs released on PSN are being stuffed in as well, and represent nearly $30 value, according to the US PlayStation Store. They cover the MGS Level and Costumes packs; the Monsters Level and Costumes packs; the History Level and Costumes packs; and the Animals Costumes pack.

Finally, a few copies of the GOTY edition will contain a golden ticket to the ModNation Racers online beta. ModNation, like LittleBigPlanet, offers you not only a game - racing in this case - but also the tools with which to expand it.

We're ever so excited, and Tom's dashing off to see it at gamescom in Cologne, Germany this week. So expect our thoughts soon.

Our E3 preview of ModNation Racers should fill you in until then.

That's good for PS3 owners who don't have it. It really is quite good, though I always felt it desrved more success - I saw it for £6 in Morrisons at the weekend. £6. A penny less than the official PS3 magazine for a game with so many levels and a near infinite amount for online users.

LBP is a great social game and deserved to do so much better. I think it was a victim of relatively poor marketing - I didn't see that many adds for it - and the fact that it is not on the Wii and therefore does not exist to the mainstream media.
