Heaps of Dead Space DLC on Thursday

Suits, skins, more firepower.

EA will release bundles of Dead Space downloadable content for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this Thursday, 13th November.

Contents range from weapon skins to powered-up suits and firearms for people who want to splat some space zombies with minimal effort.

Each console will also have a couple of pieces of exclusive content, similar to those released back in October.

Xbox 360 owners will get the option of a fully upgraded suit in the (presumably) green console colour scheme, with matching guns, and PlayStation 3 owners will have a similar option but in jet-black console colours.

European pricing wasn't mentioned, unfortunately, so PS3 owners will have to make do with the US numbers for now.

Exclusive Xbox 360 DLC:

  • Elite Pack, 240 MS Points (GBP 2.04 / EUR 2.88) - Xbox 360-coloured level 5 suit and Line Gun, Plasma Cutter, and Pulse Rifle.
  • Elite Weapon Skin Pack, 120 MS Points (GBP 1.02 / EUR 1.44) - Xbox 360 colours for Line Gun, Plasma Cutter, and Pulse Rifle.

Exclusive PlayStation 3 DLC:

  • Obsidian Pack, USD 3 - jet-black PlayStation 3-coloured level 5 suit and Line Gun, Plasma Cutter, and Pulse Rifle.
  • Obsidian Weapon Skin Pack, USD 1.50 - jet-black PlayStation 3 colours for Line Gun, Plasma Cutter, and Pulse Rifle.

Shared Xbox 360 / PS3 DLC

  • Tank Pack, 320 MS Points (GBP 2.70 / EUR 3.85) / USD 4 - level 5 suit and powered-up Flamethrower, Force Gun, and Line Gun, all covered in Unitology script.
  • Scorpion Pack, 320 MS Points (GBP 2.70 / EUR 3.85) / USD 4 - level 5 suit and powered-up Plasma Cutter, Line Gun, and Force Gun, all decorated in a red Scorpion Skin
  • Military Pack, 320 MS Points (GBP 2.70 / EUR 3.85) / USD 4 - new look and enhance power for all Dead Space weapons
  • Astronaut Pack, 240 MS points (GBP 2.04 / EUR 2.88) / USD 3 - Astronaut Suit and new skins for the Plasma Cutter, Pulse Rifle, and Ripper.
  • Heavy Damage Pack, 240 MS Points (GBP 2.04 / EUR 2.88) / USD 3 - new look and meaty firepower for Plasma Cutter, Contact Beam, Pulse Rifle and Ripper.
  • Scorpion Weapon Pack, 180 MS Points / USD 2.25 - faster Plasma Cutter, Line Gun, and Force Gun in red Scorpion skins.
  • Speed Kills Pack, 180 MS Points (GBP 1.53 / EUR 2.16) / USD 2.25 - faster-firing Force Gun, Line Gun, and Plasma Cutter.
  • Pedestrian Pack, 120 MS Points (GBP 1.02 / EUR 1.44) / USD 1.50 - new look for the Contact Beam, Plasma Cutter, and Ripper

    Great way to dilute the achievements/Trophies EA, I've just beaten the game on hard just using the plasma cutter and now there is a better plasma cutter for download along with a level 5 suit you can use as soon as you start the game. Hmmm.

    Well there's two born a minute according to PT Barnam and i've yet to see any evidence to the contrary unfortunately and they'll be queueing up for this like lambs to the slaughter.

    No sale and for taking the piss I am going to trade in Dead Space as well, no reason to hang on to it now that EA have made it clear that I will need to bend over for the dlc. If it was free it would be a bit meh, a few new skins but hey its free but to charge for it is disgusting.

    Why don't they charge extra for not supergluing the box shut?

    Actually, why not just make all the armour DLC we have to pay for. Then the only options would be to either buy armour, or run around in the cold and dark with your willy out, with all the monsters pointing and laughing at you.

    I have nothing against DLC but this and some other games I could mention make it clear that they were deliberately left out of the game for more money.

    They should release the X360-themed suit and weapons only on the PS3 and vice versa.

    Alternatively, they could release PS3-themed skins for monsters on the X360 and vice versa.

    I've got Dead Space and enjoying it so far. But no way would I fork out for this. They can bring out as much DLC that they want (not just EA) but unless it's something like what they're doing with Burnout Paradise or an expansion like Shivering Isles then not for me.

    My copy came with a free code for the Scorpion suit, little did I know this suit is the highest amoured suit you can get thus making the whole upgrade your amour thing in the game totally pointless, which I felt took some tension away from the game. As you had the best armour possible straight from the beggining. Still a great game though.

    Same economics as spam. Hardly anyone takes any notice, and only a tiny fraction of those that do will give you any money, but because it costs essentially nothing to put it out there they'll make a profit and keep on doing it.

    Isn't this just a set of cheat packs, where the weapons are already powered up for you instead of having to collect nodes. Idiotic considering that there is a level 6 suit in the game anyway!

    To be honest this isnt DLC this is just a joke.. its not april is it?

    Seriously who is going to pay money to change a few colours, as if that shouldnt have been possible anyway... I was going to buy this game, but this has really put me off, cant stand games companies trying to rip every little penny off gamers.

    It's a horror game and they are coming up with Xbox themed skins and flame decals?? Nice way to releave some idiots of their money, but not a good way to actually add something worthwhile to the game.

    Camorrista - Those people "assholes" because they're pointing out the obvious? Then class me as an asshole too, at least I'm not a retard here just to complain about optional DLC. The skin packs are things you can CHOOSE to buy or not to buy, so there's no reason to bitch about it. Sure it could be better content or it might have been "left out" so they could charge extra for it, but the fact is that the game is excellent anyway without this crap so what's the problem?

    I'm not saying you shouldn't have an opinion, but you're the asshole here, not us.

    Im buying. I love the game and to me 1600MS points is small change anyway. I need to play the game 2 more times (achievements) so getting a new look makes the new playthroughs fresher.

    no need to cheat ! Just finished the game in impossible mode! Platinum trophy !

    Great great game except the stupide design (impossible mode unlock, having to play in easy mode to do the all powered trophy..)
