Halo 3 title update available today

More Achievements, quick quick.

Bungie will be rolling out the second title update for Halo 3 today.

This introduces 10 new Achievements totalling 250 Gamerpoints, plus a new playlist rating that shows how good you are in individual playlists, rather than your global Trueskill rating. Don't panic; nothing is being taken away, only added.

Accidentally, the official Xbox site has also uncovered an additional 20 Achievements for what seem to be the additional maps planned for later this year.

That takes the Halo 3 Gamerpoint total up to 1750, which we're sure the 49/49'ers will appreciate - you know who you are.

Bungie's not ready to talk about any of the upcoming content just yet. But a spokesperson did tell Eurogamer that a date for the Assembly map was being discussed with Microsoft, and that hopefully something will be announced within the "next month or so".

Not that I'll get it. Really didn't get on with Halo 3.

Right, I'm totally playing some Halo 3 online tonight. Don't really care about Achievements, this update has just reminded me how much I enjoyed it multiplayer.

Split-screen Live gaming in Rocket Race playlist is THE best fun I've ever had with multiplayer gaming. Ever.

    rocket race is being retired...

Stop fannying around with that old game bungie, get a new game out you fuckin tards.

Balls! Halo was one of my 100% games.

Don't know if I can be bothered to work on these achievements considering a) I need to pay for the Legendary maps (and then the mystic ones) to get them, b)I have no internet connection until I move to my new place in October and c) everytime I've played Halo in the last 6 months I got bored after 3 matches. Plus there's going to be loads of new games to play by the time they all become available.

bungie - the developer that just keeps giving - i also like the fact that they were the first ones to get microsoft to break their 1250 limit. Halo 3 needed this and the new maps to reignite the interest in it. Can't wait to get home!

I *think* you'll find Criterion are a bit more giving than Bungie... Nevertheless, free achievements for some people can be nothing but welcome. Give yourselves a pat on the back!

Um, ShinyShirtHero: IIRC Bungie are far from the first to get MS to break the 1,000 limit.

Both Oblivion and Overlord have 1250, as does Gears.

Edit: Oh, sorry you wrote 1250, not 1000.

    /goes to specsavers.

RedPanda- you have to play your first games in the basic training, then once you play enough in there you get promoted and play in the 'normal' playlists. there are plenty of games on the original maps, wouldn't have thought it would be too tough to still join games?

When COD4 came out, I put Halo down for a good while, but I've been going back from time to time lately and loving every minute of it. The maps have been good as are the gametypes, so this will make me want to play even more.

    Bungie rules!

Here's betting that all these "new" maps are just remakes of old ones... again.
