Gran Turismo 5 Prologue line-up

Cars. Cars. Cars.

Sony has finalised the list of flashy cars set to populate the garages in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue.

There will be 71 in total, ranging from a Mazda that must be rubbish up to a Ferrari something or other.

Europe is getting a spattering of additional features as well. There will be a Drift Mode, more in-depth car tuning, split-screen racing for you and a friend, plus online scheduled events to take part in.

On top of this GT5 Prologue will feature the first proper online support in the series for up to 16 of you, six tracks with two layouts each, access to Gran Turismo TV, better physics, better computer-controlled drivers and the much lauded 1080p shiny and realistic graphics.

Sony expects you will be suitably excited to pick it up later this month, either as a download or on Blu-ray disc with extras from a shop.

"Which is the best, Eurogamer reader?"

Well, I don't want to be presumptuous, but, it's me.
    :)
  • Grim... #2 4 years ago

The TVR Tuscan will sound the best =]

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR Tuned Car

Get ready for ultimate win. Most sexy car ever.
  • goon-uk #4 4 years ago

ooooOOOO At first when Prologue was announced I wasn't bothered. With the news of online modes, All the cars, Tracks etc I'm definately getting it.

    55. Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione '91

Subject to all wet dreams of my boyhood... and even today :)
  • Bertie Verified Senior Staff Writer, Eurogamer.net #6 4 years ago

It might as well be written in alien language to me. Why would you ever want a Citroen or a Daihatsu over a Ferrari?
  • goon-uk #7 4 years ago

Thats what GT is about, Taking the small and cheap, Tuning it up and working your way to the super cars.
  • Anthony_UK #8 4 years ago

Having lost nearly all interest in the PS3, i was getting ready to slag this, but that is an impressive list (bigger than some full games) and also being a 360/Forza2 fan, even for a glorified demo, that isn't to shabby! Even the amount of tracks compared to Forza 2's', or should I say lack of them doesn't even seem that bad.......

Hmmmm tempting, but is it really worth my 300 notes..........need more convincing, hurry up snake!!!!
  • gamingdave #9 4 years ago

"Thats what GT is about, Taking the small and cheap, tuning it up way beyond the competition, winning all the races after the first corner."

    fixed

howevere this time online should make it all the more fun, assuming the collision model is done nicely and it isnt a PGR ram-fest.
  • dsmx #10 4 years ago

Holy crap the demo has more cars than most full games.
  • sharpfish #11 4 years ago

good list, some personel favourites on there... could do with some more JDM down to earth cars (MR2, S2000, FTO etc) and I wish it had the VX220/Opel Speedster.

Still a good list and for £17.99 purchase a definite buy from me on release, got my PS3 this week+2games for £299 and i'm very pleased with it. I can finally forget about the stress of owning a dead 360. :)
  • Kraftwurm #12 4 years ago

Audi TT Coupe 3.2 quattro '07 of course.

Aaah, mine's in it. Finally. This makes GT 5 Prologue a real life simulator for me...
  • goon-uk #13 4 years ago

Anthony_UK, go buy one. You get a a blue-ray player as well so it isn't all bad. By the time you get bored of GT5 Prologue, MGS4 will be out.
  • b0bb1ns #14 4 years ago

    Mazda's aren't necessarily rubbish - the RX8 is a superb car - just a little bit thirsty that's all
  • Pedrolot #15 4 years ago

Clio V6..Why? Because i have one.
  • sharpfish #16 4 years ago

oh and the RX7 is another good mazda (from a performance standpoint)... a future classic and a top motor. Shame it's so unreliable and needs it's rotary engine rebuilt every few years.

The Rx8 is nothing like the RX7, it's a dressed up commuter car and is actually very boring and not really a sports car like the RX7 was. Hopefully the rumours of new RX7's will be true.

edit > by rx7 I mean the FD3s (the last one in the 90's).

  • Tehren #17 4 years ago

A new RX-7? Unlikely. In a world of $100 a barrel oil, the future doesn't look Wankel-shaped. Which is a shame - the 3rd gen RX-7 was a beautiful machine.

  • levis #20 4 years ago

Cannot wait! I'm thinking of buying a new car so it would be good to test drive all of these.
  • HelloWorld #21 4 years ago

F40. Not that much else here really that i want to drive that much. Bring on the XJR-15, Group C, Group B cars etc. The "rubbish" cars aren't fun anymore since you can't get the racing modification. I don't need this demo. Don't need a PS3 just yet.
  • chronom4n #22 4 years ago

damn!! OK I saw te Fezza 599 and the 430 but, the F40? man that is going to handle sweet and look even sweeter! so close to making me want to buy the console. But one thing baffles me though, why still no skid marks when flooring it around the corners?

  • sharpfish #26 4 years ago

Tehren > I hang around a few car forums/blogs and there are definite rumours of a NEW RX7 (taking styling cues from their new 'design' style as seen on the furai (however it's spelt) concept.

Nothing definiate and maybe it won't but just like the 'new 5th gen Toyota Supra' it's a rumour that has been persisting and not flat out denied by the makers.
  • Les #27 4 years ago

It's a shame though they included BMWs. Seriously, who wants to be seen driving even a virtual one?!
  • Hobo #28 4 years ago

is the track from the Concept demo featured in this? Or are they all brand new tracks? And for that matter, is the Concept demo still in the store, or are they at least planning to remove it now?
  • mkreku #29 4 years ago

Woah, number 39 and number 50 makes my racing nerves tingle! The Brera is the most beautiful car ever made :D

(That's the Audi R8 and the Alfa Romeo Brera for you lazy bastards)
  • DAN.E.B #30 4 years ago

@ sharpfish I can finally forget about the stress of owning a dead 360. :)

yeah right! youre one of the biggest PS3 fanboys on this site

  • KreyAtiv #33 4 years ago

    Mini Cooper S '06, that's the first one I'd pick. :D

If Sony do not release an update for the Japanese version bringing it up to spec with the US/Eu versions I am going to be so fucking angry.

"It's a shame though they included BMWs. Seriously, who wants to be seen driving even a virtual one?!"

I liked the fact you could buy a shit car, soup it up and then piss all over the BMWs :). That's why you need them in there.

    Good point :)
  • Miths #37 4 years ago

So I guess the full version of GT5 will end up having around 300 Skylines just like GT4? :p

Well, I think this list is not too bad actually. A bunch of cars there I'm really not interested in, but at least we're getting the new M3, the R8, an Aston Martin, a few Ferraris plus TVR and Lotus. And while I'm generally mostly a fan of European cars, I gotta admit that that Nissan GT-R is looking pretty sweet as well, after I saw it on Fifth Gear recently.

What's the release date on Prologue? It's listed as March 28 here on Eurogamer, yet I've just seen an April 17 US release date - and Europe before the US for a Playstation release?! Surely that can't be right, can it?
  • monkie_king #38 4 years ago

Is this still going to be 1080p actually in-game? Or only in the menus/shiny pre-race screen?

  • monkie_king #40 4 years ago

You'll probably get RUFs if previous GTs are anything to go by, which is close enough really (since everything is tunable anyway, you're just getting a pre-tuned one).
  • DrDamn #41 4 years ago

    @Miths
I think March is correct - about the same time as the bundle with the PS3 and very actually before the US for once. Official confirmation is imminent. I think they confirmed it once and then did a double take themselves when they realised they were before the US and got confused.

    @antony_williams
    Possibly some RUF's as usual?
  • KayJay #42 4 years ago

"Is this still going to be 1080p actually in-game? Or only in the menus/shiny pre-race screen?"

I want to know this too. Is it going to be proper 1080p. None of that Upscaling stuff. What do they call it "Native"?

Also I think the witty Demo comments can be left at the door following this article. How Many Cars, How Many Tracks, Online & Split Screen (So I can Bash the Mrs ;-))... That should be enough to keep us busy.

I might import the US Blu-Ray, will probably be cheaper than the EU download... Haven't really played a GT in 5 years though... The PS3 demo was nice but leader boards aren't much of an incentive for me and I must admit that after unlocking all cars in the regular mode (which was rather easy even for me) I didn't touch it anymore besides showing it off to car loving friends. Downloaded the Japanese Prologue demo as well but never played it (as with most demos).
  • XRichX #44 4 years ago

Well i would say that the
"Ford Mustang V8 GT Coupe Premium '07"
is the one and if i can choose another one, then the
    "BMW M3 Coupe '07" .

    F*** i wish a had a million, to buy these cars. :0)
  • petty #45 2 years ago

I wonder why Lamborghini wasn't included on the list. For me, this one is the best tuned car. Check this out, lamborghini murcielago wallpaper.

  • motorsport #46 2 years ago

NASCAR vans are notoriously territorial about their drivers and will surely take great pride into wrecking those drivers they loath. They will want to there cars turned into piles of scrap metal or a ball of flaming delight.
I wonder how with this will impact the series that has been released by another gaming studio. My guess is that it won't and perhaps it will push them to release a better product.
I agree - release the game already and offer the additional content as a DLC. At this rate the game is going to cost over 2 grand to own every last car and track. That's not settling to well with me.
  • sepiag #47 2 years ago

What the hell would you need to read? It's a racing game. It's not like you will need to read any instructions. X is most likely go, O is most likely stop. And as Wonderflex said most Japanese games have English in them.
You should be grateful to play it no matter what language it's in.
