Garou also on XBLA tomorrow
It's a fighting game like Fatal Fury.
Microsoft has announced that Garou: Mark of the Wolves will also be available from Xbox Live Arcade tomorrow.
Like Droplitz - the other Wednesday offering - Garou will cost 800 Microsoft Points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.60).
Garou: Mark of the Wolves is a fighting game of Fatal Fury descent that found fame on the Neo Geo back in 1999. There are 12 characters to pick from and plenty of hectic action promised.
Head over to the Xbox.com website for some Garou pictures, which are taking us an age to load.

Err no, Garou is one of the most indepth 2d fighters from that time. And the late 90s was a golden age for 2d fighters. Infact, i'd wager its among the best 2d fighters ever. It certainly ranks along Third Strike, Last Blade 2, MvC2 and SFA3.

I just hope the they don't ruin it by having the awful compulsory vaseline/treacle graphics filter that marred Fatal Fury 2 and Samurai Shodown.

Very accessible too (all characters' move sets are basically the same)

yeah true, for its time. I was thinking more against the current crop of 2D fighters.
Never gave this the time it deserved though, got swept up in FF Real Bout...will be good to revisit.

This is fucking Garou: Mark of the Fucking Wolves. Speak its name with more respect, knave.
But seriously, the game is a thing of legend. I still barely believe it exists, and I played it. How can it exist? It's too perfect (flawed, yes, but that's like saying The Dark Knight was flawed - true, but irrelevant). I know a lot of people poured their blood, sweat and tears into creating such a game on such hardware, but I sort of choose to believe it just appeared at the doorstep of SNK's headquarters one morning, a gift from the heavens
Also it is beautiful, not technically but artistically. Still more beautiful to me than Street Fighter IV with its cute 2.5D.
I'm just so happy that so many new people will get to experience it. It's one of those games everyone should play at least once, even if you don't like this sort of thing. And finally the hardware is powerful enough to enable a perfect arcade port - plus you can buy good arcade controllers to play it with! Yay!

One of the the most fun and satisfying fighting games I've ever had the honor to play, an amazing cast full of vibrant colour, personality and distinct fighting styles. The Level designs are simply superb as well as the sound track, and Rocks stage! 0.0
I'm still in shock, sorry.

It works fine - most fighting game fans have an arcade stick for their 360 anyway. I prefer the d-pad actually. Nice trolling btw.

Possibly later. King of Fighters XII is coming in a months time though so its all good.
Played a little Fatal Fury on xbla last night. Completing the game without loosing is within reach but i always mess up in one of the last fights. The achievements for Garou is almost the exact same from the look of them. Hard as hell. (miguel - you should stay away from this then).
