Front Mission Evolved for spring

Series returns in action format.

Square Enix plans to release Front Mission Evolved here in spring on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Developer Double Helix has decided to resurrect the series in a third-person action format rather than as a strategy game, hence the name.

That means you're a Wanzer - a giant walking robot that goes around shooting and stepping on things and never says sorry.

A "totally immersive storyline", "Hollywood-style production values" and "intense" multiplayer are all promised.

There's also a new batch of Front Mission Evolved screenshots to look at.

I was a big fan of the 2D side-scrolling Front Mission action romp back in the day; its flow, along with a clearer and more down to earth story, made it a recurring favorite in the series. Here's hoping it's heading in that direction, then.

EDIT: "Hollywood-style production values", though, kinda reeks of someone fresh out of marketing class. Stick to the *game*, not the bloody cinematics kthnxbye.

    +1 turn based strategy versions.

Another great strategy game gone dumb!...I too won't be getting this. Strategy is what makes games more evolving esp in action games. Dumb arcade action wears off after a few minutes of play as.

Consoles need good decent strategy games not more dumb fps/gangsta/action games!

I'll keep my eye on this one, with a chance it might be a sleeper hit.

Truth is, strategy rpg games don't sell well, compared to their action counterparts, unless they have the FF name attached to them. I loved FM3 too, and even have an import copy of FM4 for PS2, but there's clearly a reason FM4 never saw a U.K EU release, and why FM5 and FM Online on PC, never got released anywhere outside of japan. Or perhaps Square are just lame, hooked on FF pushing forever.

And FM Online looked so sweet on PC, that it could have graced 360 easily, talked about missed oppurtunity, Square.

I pray this FME turns out to be half decent, as post EDF 2017 and dead Chromehounds, if would be nice to have a good mecha game to mash heads on, in single player and online.

Hope this will have good story and multi but with release so close I would want to see some more gameplay etc. dev blog and info there is just not enough, anyway can't wait.
I agree SpaceMonkey77 it is a shame that FMOnline was closed and that pc version never was widely available, would be great to play it eh. I heard that some guy was trying to find a copy of pc version to make private server or something, I think I even saw his comment on youtube about that but I doubt he found one.
