First Borderlands DLC pack dated News

PC Xbox 360 PlayStation 3
News by Tom Bramwell

10 November, 2009

Gearbox and 2K Games have announced that The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, the first downloadable expansion for Borderlands, will be released on 24th November.

As previously announced, it will cost the equivalent of $10 on PlayStation Network and 800 Microsoft Points (£6.80 / €9.60) on Xbox Live.

According to the developer's Twitter, the DLC "will come to PC", but there's "no date right now". Expect some sort of announcement soon.

The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned is set in a new location rife with quests, enemies and of course loot. The story follows Dr. Ned's attempts to cure the inhabitants of Jakobs Cove, although given the title it doesn't sound like this works out well for everyone.

Borderlands is out now on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 and you can read our 8/10 review elsewhere. Look out for a Zombie Island of Dr. Ned review around the time of release.

Nice! I'm still to get Borderlands, but DLC which extends single player is always welcome. Doesn't happen often.

Hmmm... initially it sounds steep, but would need to know how much more game and content it really is first?

I guess with Borderlands it's great, and I'm loving it. But...

- Just hoping there are more new base weapons (yeah Borderlands generates a decent standard set of items depending on your level and location your in, then adds random affects and abilities)
- Also tweaking the drops to make you get more random weapon types - not sure how it works, but myself and others I've played with can go through a session and just end up getting similar shotguns all the time, or similar repeaters.
- Also any way of customizing weapons/items yourselves would be a bonus even at cost (buy an Elemental Fire Effect for your SMG? Yes, please!)
- Rasing the level 50 cap wouldn't be a bad thing, but that would only really make sense too with new enemies. Or a boss battel arena section... wooo!

The majority of the game engine is there and I'm not sure how difficult it would be to make it but I I'd pay for it.

We shall see...

Wonder how it will work with regards to your characters level? Will all the enemies be a set level or will it scale depending on what level you are when you first start the DLC?

Anyway I'll be getting this because Borderlands has been one of my favourite games this year and hopefully it will give the last few levels I need to hit Level 50.

I wonder if the enemies will be level 50+ or at the level your charachter was when you completed the game (about 36).
I hope its the last as i havent completed the game more than once yet. I also hope they doesnt elevate the level cap. 50 is more than enough imo. Takes a about 50 hours to get to level 50 anyway.

Edit: Kinky Mong beat me to it

I want a temporal anomally expansion, so that I can actually enter the vault, now that I've killed the creature inside (one of them at least). I want to be boosted forward 200 years so that I can enter the vault and get something for my trouble! Apart from the ending this was one good game.

Got this when a friend of mine bought it, we've been playing co-op a bit and it's excellent fun. Reminds me of the game Stalker was going to be (back when Stalker was going to have co-op and vehicles, that is).

Edit: forgot what I was actually hoping for there. I'd love a stash or storage locker, preferably shared: I've gotten blue or better weapons 8 or so levels above me.

The real question is, will it have new achievements?
