Fable III to go on show next month

Better get going to San Francisco.

The third instalment in the Fable series is set to get its first public showing next month.

As reported on the Fable III Facebook page, the game will be on show at the X10 event in San Francisco, which takes place on 10th - 11th February.

"Of course Lionhead is excited about showing the latest of Fable III, but we're also very much looking forward to all other games and announcements," a post on the page reads.

Those "other games" are set to include key products such as Crackdown 2, Halo: Reach and Splinter Cell: Conviction. Expect plenty of Natal-related gubbins too.

Eurogamer will be reporting direct from the event, bringing you all the latest news the minute it happens, depending on the stability of the internet connection.

I hope I get to kill the dog right from the outset this time. I hate those bloody things.

A monkey would be more useful you could teach it to thieve etc.

Please, no dog this time. Just no. The whole treasure digging thing is just to artificially lengthen the game in a very tedious manner, and adding the dog made it even less bearable. Just me, a big freaking sword and a lot of very evil things to do (and for the love of all that is Evil, make evil things EVIL, jeez. I want to be ridiculously evil and enjoy doing ridiculously evil things!)...

I really liked the dog. More of that please - more pets, different pets, etc. I'd quite like a parrot. But Nephirion's monkey idea is tops, too. Also: horses.

It would be good, though, if it was optional, as lots of people found it irritating last time.

Maybe add a cat. And toxoplasmosis for your character to catch.

Dogs are cool and monkeys but I'd like a cat too.
And maybe some kind of magical upgrade so you can turn it into a tiger or summat and have it fight by your side.

    What, for Fable?

Cats are cool but I can't bare to see harm befalling a cat. So only invincible cats please. A monkey would be good. You could be king of all monkeys and live in a fort built in the trees.

Why is it whenever I read an article about Fable 3 I start singing Won't Get Fooled Again by The Who?
  • darleysam #10 2 years ago

Because you subscribe to the very, very tired idea that Peter 'Molynaux' Molyneux is a talentless liar who has done nothing but deceive the gaming public and buy review scores and high sales figures for all his games. Which he designed, coded and.. art-ed all by himself in his basement, while the rest of the Lionhead employees fawned over him massaging his already critically massive ego.

    You know, that old chestnut.

Yes, if there must be a dog, make it optional but also useful like the dog in Dragon Age. Anyway... "Fable 3 will revolutionize the genre, and certainly won't be a crushingly disappointing mishmash of half baked ideas, broken controls and obnoxious, dislikable characters like the first two games!" "Oh Peter, how we would like to believe you're telling the truth... so we will." "Excellent... *come on Peter, get it together, you can still be third time lucky...*"

I don't think a cat as a pet in game would work, think about it...

It would wonder off on it's own and you won't see it for an hour or two at a time, then when it does show up it wants fed, brushed and will then have a sleep for a while before wondering off again. ;)

Metalangel's on the bandwagon too! Come on everybody, it's new and uncharted ground!

    Okay.. I'll be interested if:

    1. it's not the near exact same story as fable 1 (like fable 2 was)
    2. you dont give me the whole game to make my character good/evil.. only for the ending to change at the last minute on a turn of a card (with no save option to see the other endings, or to allow me to change my mind)
    3. It's possible to get achievements even once you've finished.. I spent the whole of the last game getting 90% of the treasure.. finished the game thinking i'd get the rest later.. but my dog is now dead.. so i cant. What a crock of shite.
    4. You havent just replaced the "greeting system" (i.e. fart/dance/etc) - with stuff which is compatible with natal (wave/shake hands/etc)
