Ex-Bungie men form Moonshot Games

Dedicated to downloadables.

Former Bungie men Michel Bastien, Damián Isla and Rob Stokes have formed their own company, Moonshot Games, and announced plans to start making downloadable games.

Bastien had been production lead on Halo 2 and 3, while Isla was the series' AI and gameplay engineering lead and Stokes did writing and mission design. They're joined at Moonshot by a Seattle artist, Mike McCain.

"The Moonshot team firmly believes that the stars need not be limited to multimillion-dollar projects supported by armies of ground crew," it says on the official website.

"There is a place in history for that small, nimble craft, built smartly on a modest budget, and piloted by expert hands."

I think we'll see much more of this as we transition to more direct software distribution.

Thanks but no thanks. I doubt I'd care for anything a couple of ex-Bungie people produce. Those games look and sound horrible. Some of the worst designed maps I've ever experienced. I hope to never see anything produced by Bungie or ex-Bungie staff for as long as I'm playing games.

Loving the art design of their new website. Well done Mike McCain. Good luck to them all.

Amazing website and great name, very evocative. Now if only they focus on something PC-compatible (boy that does sound retro - that's what it has come to I guess), I'll be interested. Probably some sort of XBLA/iPhone stuff coming up, though, console-exclusive and featuring a general finger-weaving towards the PC crowd. If not, please let me know - I'll be in my bunker.

    +1 @miiiguel

Hidden posts make the whole comments section fucked up, the amount of people who reply to hidden threads and if your not logged in you havnt a clue whats going on.

On topic however good luck to the fellas hopefully they wont need a publisher because they will be downloadable, meaning they keep creative control, games wont be as dumbed down and they can charge me less ;-)

    One can dream

Guess they were sick of working in huge teams for big budget games like the Halo series.
