Massive demo on show floor.

Sony has announced that God of War III will be released in March 2010.

The new date was announced at the end of a gameplay demo during the lengthy and revealing Sony E3 conference earlier.

And if you couldn't catch it live, you can find out roughly what went on by checking out our God of War III preview, where Oli was extremely impressed with Santa Monica Studio's spectacular hackandslash.

Is there a new GoW for PSP coming too? Or did I get my news wires crossed.

    I *loved* the PSP game.

God of War III is perhaps my most eagerly awaiting console game at the moment, mainly because I thought the first two games on the PS2 were utterly astounding, both in the gameplay and technical/visual sense. Even the story and character are a cut above what you usually get in these kinds of games. Can't. Wait.

What? I really thought this would be a summer 2009 release. Bah. How long does it take to make this game?

There's lot of gameplay footage on GameSpot. The game looks sensational... and brutal. Yup it's just more of the same but when it's as good as the first two stunning games I'm not complaining. The visuals and lighting look especially impressive too but then the first two games really made excellent use of the limited PS2 hardware so I wouldn't have expected anything else.

The March 2010 release date is the only downer really... why must we wait so long? Wouldn't this sell better as a Christmas 2009 release instead?
