It's been seen up and running.

More than four hundred years after the game was first announced, it's been confirmed that Duke Nukem Forever is still in development over at 3D Realms.

That's according to Shacknews, which recently got to see the game up and running.

Apparently they were shown "several different DNF gameplay scenarios, mechanics and environments" during a half-hour demo.

"We actually got to see the truth of Duke curator George Broussard's many past claims including environmental puzzles and interactivity, a host of finished weapons, the existence of an in-game forklift, and plenty of heads and arms being blown off," the Shacknews article reads.

"We both confidently agree that after seeing this demonstration, Duke Nukem Forever is looking great, and will easily stand apart from the crowd in both visual and gameplay styles."

Next up on EyeWitness News, another sighting of BigFoot. A witness yesterday claimed he saw Bigfoot in the wild relaxing in his natural habitat. The witness said that the mythical creature seemed relaxed and appeared to be acting out various scenarios. In a new development the witness even claims he saw Bigfoot interacting with what appeared to be different types of weapon. Although the witness was unable to offer any proof of his encounter, he claims he was able to watch Bigfoot unimpeded for around 30 minutes, and later said the whole experience was amazing. "The whole experience was amazing", the witness later said.

No, I think so much time has passed now that expectations have been seriously lowered. Most people expect it to be shite, so if it turns out half-decent, it'll surprise people.

What makes you expect that much, anomagnus? It's not as if it's been especially hyped since... '01?

This game has taken so many turns around the hype train that I think it deserves a blank slate when judged. If that time comes (Hopefully within the year).

The article title is weird... I know people joke about it being vapourware (and rightly so) but it wasn't that long ago that they released the teaser vid is it? The title suggests there was some doubt over whether they're still working on it...!

Driv-three-arr had a forklift in it, which made possibly the most annoying section of the game where you had to make a platform out of a forklift raising up a box with very roper physics, then run over it before you were shot to death and had to do the whole bloody thing again.

Yes they do. You do, you clicked the link. And how is it vapourware if they have actually shown it to journalists?

As for people 'expecting it to shite', thats unfair as hell. The game that eventually gets released will only have been in development for a few years like any other game, the stuff that was going on in the late 90's won't be included y'know? And 3D Realms have hardly been churning out bad games, Max Payne 1, 2 and Prey spring to mind.

Give it a chance, it's Duke Nukem afterall... you do remember how frickin awesome it was frist time round don't you?

well i played daikatana, and i only paid 3 quid for it, and i still felt ripped off. it had a serious lack of forklift sections in it. i completed that shit too, due to OCD and that.
