Dragon Age patched on PC today

PS3 and 360 awaiting certification.

BioWare has revealed that it's releasing a patch for the PC version of Dragon Age: Origins today.

The patch, 1.04, is complete for 360 and PS3 as well, but is awaiting certification from Microsoft and Sony.

It covers a laundry list of bug fixes for both the original game and the Awakenings expansion pack, from fixing the display of Achievements to the appearance of incorrect characters in Morrigan's ritual.

In Awakenings, "the message, 'Legacy tattoo asset do not use!' will no longer appear on the faces of imported characters," and "players may now receive notes of appreciation from their Origins love interests." Sweet.

Too late IMO. Already finished DAO months ago and the expansion when it came out.

I guess DLC was a higher priority.

Fucking excellent news. I thought they had just sacked it off but it's probably no surprise it's taken so long as Awakenings was so thoroughly bug ridden. Pity as well because it is an excellent expansion.

I just started my second runthrough this weekend. Good timing I guess, although it hopes it doesn't break any of the mods I just installed.

Also thinking of getting one of the DLCs - I take it Awakenings is the best option?

Wooo - got this for effectively £5 the other day [£15 in hmv sale and i had store credit] - so glad to see it fixed more before i play it.

Look forward to digging in sometime after i finish ME2 dlc overlord, crackdown2 cheevs and alan wake.

I figure Awakenings is the best option, but you can grab a boxed copy for under half the price of the DLC version..

Does the boxed version still tie in with Steam? My copy of Dragon Age is Steam-enabled so I'd like the expansion to be the same...

edit: A bit of Googling seems to say that if I have the Steam version of Dragon Age, I must get the Steam version of Awakenings too. Kinda sucks.

With this, is it safe to assume some sort of GOTY package is on its way?
Due to the buggy, broken game I literally reached a point of no return and was trapped fighting a boss I had no hope to win because auto save trapped me there =/

Of course up until that point I thoroughly enjoyed the game so this is great news. I've since traded the game in but hearing that they're fixing alot of the problems with this game tempts me, yet if they are patching it this late, ready for a GOTY edition then I can wait.

" I literally reached a point of no return and was trapped fighting a boss I had no hope to win because auto save trapped me there"

Didn't you have any saves at all to return to?

    @slipstream

Not to be overly critical but ANY game that allows you to save manually does so for these exact circumstances. Ye should always adopt a 2-save system. Resi 1 on PS1 taught me that the hard way

Well it was massively buggy... not in the "it crashes all the time sense", but in the "oh here's another little thing that's not quite right" way. And I hope they improved rendering performance a bit as well.

Regarding the auto-save trap, that actually happened to me. I'd highly recommend keeping a save from just outside any major dungeon that you enter. Just two saves covering the last hour doesn't cut it.

Still haven't updated it yet on Steam as of 18:13...

Well spoke to soon, now it is @ 18:20...
