Codies quiet on SWOS date
But still expected this year.
Codemasters has kept its football-like lips closed about the release date of Sensible World of Soccer on Xbox Live Arcade.
However, it did sink its studs into our news pitch and say it expected the game would be out before the end of the year. So that's something, we suppose. A bit like watching England actually turn out a performance for once.
The last we heard about Sensible World of Soccer was in July, when the publisher told us it would cost 800 points (GBP 6.80 / EUR 9.30) and be out later this summer.
We got very excited, not least because it promises to be a faithful port of the game we remember in our mind's eye, but also because we'll be able to play it against our friends on Live.
Sensible Soccer-mad Kristan managed to get his hands on the game earlier in the year to give it a run for its money, whilst chatting to game creator Jon Hare at the same time. Pop over to his first impressions of SWOS to see why the best things come to those who wait.

And just when you thought they'd turned a corner by producing good games like DiRT and Overlord, they go n kick us in the teeth by dangling the proverbial carrot in front of us.
Oh well, will go n spend my hard earned M$ points elsewhere now I think.

Man, i've seen that bloody carrot sooooooooo many times...with games and whilst working there
Unless they've found some huge progress stopping bug before the games actually been released this time (Unlike poor BubbleBobbleDS...hehehe, still makes me laugh)

Has it dawned on any of you that the delay might be (shock) to make it better?
What's better having it earlier full of bugs and a bit shit? or later and a good game?
FFS whats wrong with you all?
Sometimes i wonder if gamers actually play games or just fucking moan all the fucking time.

If so, AWESOME.

Its a port, what is there to make better!! And if they are, how long should it take!!! Not this bloody long!!
I think we have every right to feel gutted about this, theres being impatient and theres being dicked about by codies ..and not for the first time, thats whats happening now!!
...I smell a codies fanboy.

But come on, an arcade game? A port of an old game which by all accounts is a direct conversion of the original!! What could be possibly need doing to it?
I could understand a week or two of delays, ironing out a few minor problems, but by the sounds of it, this is gonna be delayed months rather than weeks! That's what annoys me, that and the fact Codies came out and said Summer release, what was that? A huge tease by the look of it!!

At the end of the day none of us know the reality of the situation but we all know that Codemasters wouldn't delay the game if they didn't have to. They're not massochists.

so many waits, especially after thinking ti was due out end of aug, i dont wanna be waiting till next year.. but... it must have some problems..
and i would rather it was perfect than a shoddy release at the end of the day...

But, hey: SWOS v KO2 is still much more exciting than the current console war, and it's an argument that's been going on for twelve years.
Next week: Quake III v UT2
