Cobain would find GH5 funny, says Love

But she's not done with "sleazy" Activision.

Widower Courtney Love's changed her tune; she now reckons her late husband Kurt Cobain would have been okay with his digital likeness singing other people's pop songs in Guitar Hero 5.

"What pisses me off the most about it is I think Kurt would be fine with having five Kurt Cobains singing the (Spice Girls) song Wannabe, like, 'Tell me what you want, what you really really want,'" Love told NME magazine, reported by Contact Music (via Kotaku). "I think he'd find that really funny."

Love burst into the papers last September, furious at Activision's use of the Kurt Cobain avatar in Guitar Hero 5. The dead musician wasn't restricted to Nirvana songs, meaning he could be used to front and mime any song in the game. Love said she'd "sue the s***" out of Activision then, and today she's just as hungry for blood.

"But at the same time it's gross what they did. Gwen [Stefani - suing Activsion for how No Doubt appears in Band Hero] started the lawsuit. I have really good lawyers now and will join that lawsuit," Love added.

    They must be getting Richter readings around where Kurt is buried with the amount of spinning he must be doing. Courtney Love is facepalm personified.

    How could you have five Kurt Cobains singing Wannabe by the Spice Girls?

    Surely that track isn't in Guitar Hero 5?

    WTF is she on about?

    @cianchristopher "Surely that track isn't in Guitar Hero 5? "

    It's an exportable track from Band Hero.

    "Widower Courtney Love" ??? You mean she's a dude? I did wonder...

    MrMarc: I'd go further than that, if Mr Cobain was alive today most people probably wouldn't have heard of him at all. Grunge was on its way out of fashion before he committed suicide and brought it back into the limelight, his band and probably the whole genre would likely have gone forgotten if he had been mentally and emotionally balanced.

    @MrMarc

    While you could say that the Cobain of 1990 would have never done this, it's impossible to say what a Cobain 20 years older would have done. We've had Johnny Rotton on I'm a Celebrity and Paul McCartney on X-Factor. People change. Maybe he'd have still disagreed, or maybe he wouldn't have cared anymore. Maybe he would have set fire to Love and threw her out of a moving car. We just don't know.

    pearl jam are still alive and rocking, so i 'd say grunge never died, it still has appeal, always will. led zep finished before their time unfortunately, but their influence is still around today. love isn't half a twatfacedcuntbag, surely it isnt just cobains image thats in question: there were many other instrumentalists that were part of nirvana way before this powderyfaced tart sunk her claws in, i wonder what their take in this is.

    How is Kotick a cunt? MW2 is a good game, DJ Hero and RiDE might not be to everyone's taste but they're at least attempting to try new things... Then there's the pricing policy - but did anyone actually buy MW2 for £55?

    Love the way people hate the things they love.

    Its the internets! It's full of sad little boys with no friends who think that when they're online they're "popular" and as such aim to be "one of the boys" by slagging everything off - and desperately trying to fit in with everyone by slagging off stuff they think other people will hate too, yadda yadda.

    You are so right, in fact there’s this annoying little cock that keeps popping up in all the Halo threads...oh wait...

    Err, yes... as has already been pointed out above;

    widower |ˈwidō-ər|
    noun
    a man who has lost his wife by death and has not remarried.

    Does Eurogamer know something we don't... or is their editor having an off-day?
