Burnout Paradise coming to PC
Massive resolutions, customised content.
Criterion has decided it is about time Burnout was offered to you lot on PC.
So it will be rebuilding Burnout Paradise for the desktop world, enhancing the multiplayer, online features and community-driven content as it goes.
Criterion has released the first shots of the game running in a whopping resolution of 1920x2400. These are apparently un-altered and ripped straight from a double-screen portrait of Paradise.
Criterion will be dishing lots more dirt on its PC version in its live podcast that started at 4pm BST.
Pop over to the Criterion website to drop in on the action.

But this looks to me to be the perfect Burnout for a PC port. The mod aspect sounds promising. They should also allow mods for PS3 (360 too, if MS lets them) like in UT3.

Please EG hold on to that article that says one must have an internet connection and an intrusive check will be performed every 2 days.

Erm.. Everyone on here has an internet connection.. what's the problem?
And i doubt any check would be more than a couple of k either.. hardly going to push your internet limits is it?

Regarding Mass Effect, EGers were absolutly disgusted, maybe the "esoteric" reasons stroke us again and it doesn't matter anymore.

p.s. Smelly, stop quoting people on my ignore list! It ruins the suspense! I'm guessing it was a classic xbot, kyron or miiguel. Time for a generic response: "at least I won't pay 40 quid a year to play it online! LOL11122"

Still I won't complain, arcadey racing games are kind of under-represented on the PC, so it'll be a welcome addition.

Yeah, I'd rather play it on an open system like a console. Christ, the naivety is blinding.

Now I can play Burnout with my good old Playstion2 pad, I hope they add LAN and cool internet play into this new one.
I hope they convert the older version too, at budget prices so more PC gamers can get into that good Burnout experience.

1: It doesn't prevent piracy. It'll only actually affect paying customers, because it'll get cracked pretty much right away. This has happened with every check of this kind, or any other kind, ever. See: Bioshock, Steam.
2: Not everyone always has an internet connection. Say, if you wanna play your games on your laptop, away from a wallsocket, suddenly you can't. Or let's say you find yourself without a working connection, due to technical difficulties, which is when you most want to play offline games... Except now you can't, and worst of all, for no good reason whatsoever. This happened to me recently with Steam, and a borked university connection.
3: If the company's servers go down, you suddenly can't play any more. The company doesn't even have to go bust. Recently, Microsoft just shut down their MSN music-service's authentication servers, and now anyone who bought DRMed music from them has just lost all of it, with no prospect of a refund.
4: If it goes wrong, you lose your game, which you just paid for. Bioshock's authentication service did this to a few people, blocking them from installing using their serial number because they tried installing it too many times. I also have a friend who lost £30's worth of games on Steam.
I'm not trying to start an argument here btw, just pointing out that the people previously complaining about it aren't just random hippies ranting against the tyranny of the man, they have geniune technical reasons to dislike the idea
