Aliens vs. Predator for early 2010

First video and screenshots inside.

SEGA has confirmed the new Aliens vs. Predator game for PC, PS3 and 360, and said we'll be playing it early next year.

It's still a "working title", but we have the first screenshots to look at as well as a very teasing teaser trailer, which has has lots of logos, a screeching alien, a cocked gun and a Predator fist. Blink and you'll miss it.

As we already know, original Aliens vs. Predator developer Rebellion will be behind the game, and once more the story will be split into three campaigns for each of the three species: human, alien, predator. They'll all meet and greet on the site of an ancient pyramid dug up by a bunch of colonist miners.

Aliens are stealthy and deadly up-close, remember, while marines work together in squads and use heavy weaponry. Predators, on the other hand, work alone and use camouflage, shoulder-canons and fist-claws to generally mutilate anything in site.

Online, all three species will battle for survival. And that's all the information we have. Come on, SEGA, we're ready to hear more.

Or, as Arnold would say: "Come on... Come on! Do it! Do it! Come on. Come on! Kill me! I'm here! Kill me! I'm here! Kill me! Come on! Kill me! I'm here! Come on! Do it now! Kill me!"

  • muziksoulchild #2 3 years ago

LOL Do it Now!!! Kill Me!! ... Those Arnie quotes never get old. Lets hope its not 'Game over man!' for the Aliens Marines game which is also suppose to be coming out eh?

Those screen shots look pretty first-person to me...

Either way bring it on, AvP and AvP2 were absolute class online

    "anything in site"

    OMG u made a mistayke!

I love AvP. I love AvP2. I still boot up the second from time to time (the first no longer seems to work on newer computers, for shame) and have a blast. I really hope they stick to the traditional style, and pretend that those god-awful movies never happened. With Rebellion at the helm, things are promising!

Looks nice. So this is different to Colonial Marines right? But they're both being published by SEGA?

Marines radar sound for the wind ! God I remember AvP 1 late at night, and that sound usually went faster when you were out of ammo.

Not sure in AvP 2, but in AvP 1 Preda was way OP in multiplayer... Hope they will balance a bit more !

instant buy for me, had one back on the PC and loved it.

    stay frosty.

I'm interested in this. I'll stick uhround to find out more.

Amazing news! The first one was amazing, my dads mate gave it to me! Alien was my favourite campaign but the predators power was an awesome feeling. The weak marines campaign was one of the few games that actually scared me! Like a better thought out Doom 3! This should mostly be amazing. Mostly...

Predator in AvP2 wasn't overpowered in multiplayer, provided you didn't use the plasmacaster. Or the energy pistol. Or the disc. Or the explosives. Or the staff. Or the netgun.

They're supposed to be overpowered though. That's what they're about. There just needs to be some more effective mechanism to limit how many people can actually BE a Predator in any single game though.

The first two games were OK but not in multiplayer.
Good graphics but I still would rather have Colonial Marines with Syd Mead and the BSG writer's involvement. I guess Sega just saw bigger dollar signs tying it to AVP instead having evolved to become one of the worst movie franchise spin offs evah. And didn't Rebellion do a slated PSP game recently?
    /sigh

What, no love for AvP2: Primal Hunt?

AvP2 had too many cliches to be entirely great - calling the hero 'Frosty' didn't make me think of tired, strung-out Hicks, it made me think of a happy jolly snowman with two eyes made out of coal.

AvP1 made me shit my pants though.

Remember the PC version, classic (only played the human player story though)... wonder if Colonial Marines will come out?

Heres hoping for the Blu-Ray movies boxset for Alien(s) and hopefully a future Aliens Movie (one can hope :)
  • Farzlepot #20 3 years ago

"hopefully a future Aliens Movie (one can hope :)"

I hope not. Given the state of Hollywood at the moment, and all of the crap they're spewing out, any future Aliens movie will only serve to soil the good name of the franchise even further, like the AvP movies did to two franchises simultaneously.

Yeah, CM is still due next year not sure if due before or after AvP though. I'm more excited about that TBH but PURE aliens is more my cup of tea (I still love the PC AvPs tho so this is still up there!).

As for Blu? Stop your grinnin' and drop your linen, I can't wait for that, hope it's no double dipping but will be :(

A new movie would be nice, somebody wake up Fox. If someone suggests predators in it though I say we grease this rat-fuck son-of-a-bitch!

    fuuuuuuuu that looks great

never playedthe pc original (xp problems at the time), but loved the second game
  • George-Roper #23 3 years ago

I sincerely hope Rebellion gets this right but i've got a nagging feeling that with Sega involved it's going to be primarily developed for consoles and that doesn't bode well for the PC version.

FEAR 2 wasn't a patch on FEAR 1, for this very reason, and with AvP2 being in my Top 10 best single and multi-player gaming experiences on the PC, I'd simply hate for this opportunity to be missed.

Get it right, Rebellion. Multi-player modes and all.

  • HoriZon #24 3 years ago

Looks great but wanted it this year!! shame but ah well :)
  • curtlikesmeat #25 3 years ago

Agreed George Roper - AvP 2 definitely ranks somewhere on my top of all time (although some prefer the first) - hopefully they can bring the best aspects from the first two together and make a great game. The reactions on those marines faces look really detailed - if they can get the facial animation anything like Half Life 2 I'll be really happy, and there's no reason why they shouldn't since that's years old!
  • Reihn #26 3 years ago

Sight not site Rob. ; )

    Also, pleasebegood!
  • Spekingur #27 3 years ago

AvP3. Please be as awesome as AvP2. I loved how Aliens could climb on walls and roofs, I don't think any other game has done that in a proper way.

  • kwesleyb #29 3 years ago

Another reminder of the ridiculously delayed Colonial Marines.
If thats anything to go by, dont expect this by at least 2012...
    *sigh*
  • Spydy #30 3 years ago

That level in complete darkness with only your motion sensor from the first game....I shit myself with fear at least twice.
  • Razorus #31 3 years ago

If they have a multiplayer mode similar to Riddick's Pitch Black mode, but with aliens, OMG, that would be for the win.
  • Haloboy #32 3 years ago

I still maintain that Monolith's effort was superior to Rebellion's first, plus AvP2's MP was just amazing. Rebellion's recent track record doesn't fill any of us with much optimism but I'm sure SEGA will push them like slaves for a worthwhile release.

PC version should be the bomb if so.
  • Coughthulu #33 3 years ago

I though Colonial Marines had been put on hold until Gearbox could get someone to give them more money after their next game?

    From here.

Anyway, if Rebellion can return to form and produce something worthy of the PC version they did, and not the bloody awful PSP version they last cranked out, this could be wonderful. Still needs to beat AvP2 though, which Monolith did.
  • SomaticSense #34 3 years ago

Most looked forward to game for me by some distance, bar none.

As soon as I saw a 360 running for the first time, the first thing I thought of was how good a new Aliens game would be. The fact it's by the original devs of AvP (a game I adored as it had the perfect feel for an Alien/Predator game) just makes it all the better. I really, really hope it's a return to form by Rebellion and they pull it off.

AvP for the current gen! \o/
