Assassin's Creed 2 Euro date confirmed

Plus Ve-nice Black Edition box.

Ubisoft has told Eurogamer that Assassin's Creed 2 will launch on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 here on 20th November. The 17th November date announced at E3 was for the US.

The UK will also get an exclusive Black Edition of Assassin's Creed 2, which costs 70 English Queenpounds.

That's because the black, holographic box will be stuffed with goodies. Specifically, a 64-page leather-and-parchment-style "Conspiracy" development book; an Ezio figurine wearing "Master Assassin" garb; three in-game bonus quests promising to cover "the most prestigious moments" of the Italian Renaissance; the soundtrack by Jesper Kyd; and behind-the-scenes developer interviews.

Or so says Play, which appears to be the only site offering the Black Edition box.

Head over to our Assassin's Creed 2 gamepage for E3 trailers and screenshots. They're very pretty.

£69.99, or available for £29.99 if you wait a week.

Nice to hear, really looking forward to AC2 but adding "three in-game bonus quests promising to cover "the most prestigious moments" of the Italian Renaissance" to the collectors edition is crap. There shouldn't be any difference in the game content, exclusive in-game content is not cool (different skins and stuff like that are fine) IMO.

I've no doubt they'll also be made available as DLC for two and sixpence but I don't want to spend £70 (€90ish?) on a bunch of shite that adds very little to the actual game.

I think it's great that people can get a "collectors' edition" with booklets, figurines, making of documentaries, soundtrack CDs, etc, but I don't like it when they withhold in-game content unless people buy the more expensive version, it feels like they're stiffing the regular buyer.

However, for all I know, these three "bonus" quests could just be more filler, and the first game was hardly short of filler.

Edit: Curse Sneetch for being a faster typist than me.

At £70, it certainly is a bit pricey but, as commented on above, this will no doubt plummet in price during the Christmas sales so will no doubt try to hold out 'til then.

Ubisoft to consumers: please can you spare a few coins?
  • Triggerhappytel #7 3 years ago

Seventy fucking quid?! Piss off; I'll wait and see if they're taken on board the complaints from the first game before anything else.

And these extra quests will just be filler - Far Cry 2 had 4 missions exclusive to HMV, but they were just like the dull regular missions. Really not worth worrying over.

this limited edition collectable figurine of Ezio wears an upgraded cloak, something Ezio only has access to in the advanced stages of the game.

That...does look really really lush! Look forward to getting that in the game xD

So how much is the Black Edition in Scottish Looks-Like-It's-Made-By-A-Child-With-Crayons-Hence-Won't-Get -Accepted-In-England-With-Good-Cause Pounds?

I would pre-order now, but I'm not too fussy about it. I would like a nice model, like my Altair, but not enough to pre-order. If they're not sold out on release, I'll probably have it though. I'll definitely get Assassins Creed 2 in some form, that's for sure.
  • AphoticCosmos #10 3 years ago

Damn. That's a really nice CE. Might have to get it, but £70 is a bit steep to say the least.
  • Skooch #11 3 years ago

    £70!

Ha ha ha....ha ha ha.....ha ha ha...

    ...oh, they're serious!

  • kangarootoo #13 3 years ago

Let me add my 2 pence to the growing "don't care about plastic figurines and dev diaries, but would rather like the extra levels" pile.
  • Iain815 #14 3 years ago

To be honest, it does have a lot of stuff inside it. I may consider waiting till the sales and get it if it's cheaper then.
  • kangarootoo #15 3 years ago

The character as shown on the Play website looks very cool. The black hood makes it look a lot more sort of stealthy. So that is what the character looksm like when he is fully upgraded is it?
  • kangarootoo #16 3 years ago

I just noticed, he has a finger missing off each now because of the twin wrist blade things.

    Gutted.

"I just noticed, he has a finger missing off each now because of the twin wrist blade things.

What, do you mean on the little figurine? Nah, you can clearly see the edge of fingers hidden behind the blades - he definitely has five digits on each side.
  • paulf #18 3 years ago

have they skippable cutscenes in the collectors edition?
  • wellzy4eva #19 3 years ago

Eurogamer seem to have forgotten to mention there is also a £39.99 standard edition as well for both Xbox360 and PS3 available on play.com

Come on guys, dig deep. Ubi need to keep their FOUR HUNDRED AND FIFTY developers fed and watered.

Oh yeah. Christ, I would make a crap assassin with my poor attention to detail.

"Yeah, when I got there he was already dead. Someone had cut off his head."

    "He was wearing a hat."

    "Oh."

I'd make a crap assassin because I'd spend too much time smirking to myself whenever anyone said assassin.

Heh! You said "ass" twice. Heh!

    ;)

And a Ltd Edition Jade Raymond comic. Awwww yeah.
  • Aretak #27 3 years ago

I'd expect the real Jade Raymond for £70.
  • mega7ech #28 3 years ago

I for one fucking love these "collectors edition" packs and will be pre-ordering straight away! Dont care if its £70 or a £100 - Ive got a good job! :p

  • kangarootoo #29 3 years ago

    "Ive got a good job!"

Ability to buy is nothing to do with it as well you know. Most people in here could afford to buy this sort of thing. Its whether they think it is worth it.

I have to say on reflection that its a pretty good pack as these things go. The plastic figure is the only bit I don't care about - the rest sounds rather interesting. £70 though... not really.
  • oldschoolsoviet #30 3 years ago

The finger thing has already been explained, quite publicly.

And a Jesper Kyd soundtrack ?! That's news, and good news at that.
  • Mooks #31 3 years ago

£70 sounds like a real bargain O_o, I can see the preorders flooding in for this one ...
  • creepylizard #32 3 years ago

Isn't "overhyped" a bit of a contradiction in terms? what do you expect the developers or publishers to say? "well, heres a game we've made for you to buy from us. Its alright. Seriously, it won't be the worst thing you've ever played but, to be honest, you would have played alot better, we would imagine. Anyway, hope you buy it. Cheers"
unless you're talking about the reviews...which were mostly all slightly above average..
