We're a little late to the party on this news but it still bears noting - Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate has been announced for release in Europe and North America.

The title will launch here on 3DS in "early 2015", Monster Hunter series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto revealed in a video message, embedded below.

MH4 Ultimate is an enhanced version of the original Monster Hunter 4, which launched in Japan to huge success last September - it's now sold well over three million copies in the country alone.

It will be re-released there this coming autumn as Monster Hunter 4G - and that's the version we'll see next spring.

Unlike last year's launch Monster Hunter Tri G, no Wii U version of the game was mentioned.
