Ex-Rare devs reveal adventure game Tengami

First gameplay video inside.

Ex-Rare devs have founded an indie studio and revealed Tengami, an adventure game set in Japan.

The game, reminiscent of Media Molecule's recently announced PS Vita exclusive Tearaway, features a paper crafted pop-up world inspired by traditional Japanese arts and crafts. You have to manipulate the world to solve puzzles and discover secrets. The first gameplay video is below.

Tengami, due out first on iPad in early 2013 then on iPhone, PC and Mac, is made by UK indie Nyamyam, which was founded in late 2010 by former Rare developers Phil Tossell and Jennifer Schneidereit. Tossell and Schneidereit worked together on Kinect Sports while at the Microsoft-owned studio, but before that Tossell worked on Diddy Kong Racing, Starfox Adventures and Kameo. Tossell was made director of gameplay for Rare in 2009 before working on the Kinect exclusive.

There's a preview on Modojo, who saw the game at Rezzed, the PC and indie game show in Brighton.
