Steam to highlight the best user-created content

New Game Hubs seek to bring fans of various titles together.

In an effort to bring its community together, Valve will launch a new major update to its digital distribution service Steam by creating "Game Hubs" for its 2000 plus game titles.

These hubs will highlight and enable the most highly-rated user-created screenshots, videos and Workshop items for their particular game across Steam. Additionally, it will pull together related news, discussions and comments for the game.

"The New Steam Community is all about showing off the best content that gamers have created," said Valve's Emily Kent. "With over 89 million screenshots, videos, Steam Workshop maps, levels, mods, and items, plus news articles and product updates, the community has created an unbelievable wealth of content around their favorite games."

Since February 2011 when Steam Screenshots launched, over 80 screenshots have been taken. Nearly one million Steam-based videos have been uploaded on Youtube since May 2011, and users have created over 200,000 Workshop items since Steam Workshop launched last September.

More upcoming features will be revealed throughout the week at Steam's Community page, where it will be announced when the update's closed beta will begin.
