Starhawk beta! Splinter Cell savings! Final Fantasy costumes!

If I remember correctly, Steel Dragon EX is a really cool little shmup. For £4 I might have to give it another go.

Where the hell is Jak & Daxter Trilogy? Hmf.
  • JawzPause #3 3 months ago

Glad they are finally bringing in PS2 games.
I'm hoping for Burnout 3: Takedown, Kingdom hearts, Okami and Final Fantasy 12.

That PS2 "classics" list is looking more like "PS2 games that will never be re-released in HD and are shit" list. Virtua Fighter 4 is a top top game though. As mentioned, here's hoping some real classics are on the store soon.

GTA Vice City has been rated as a PS3 release over at ESRB so chances are it will make an appearance of some sort eventually, either in HD or a normal classics download. Can't wait to play that again!

@sfp_noodle Are you suggesting that God-Hand is shit? I may need to get my pimp hand out if that is the case. But in all seriousness I see what you mean but at least you got the option there rather than trying to get a PS2 off ebay.

I literally jumped & squealed when I saw Virtua Fighter 4 - Evolution. Best. Fighter. Ever!!! Would have loved Jak & Daxter

Think Starhawk beta is now available to all, not just plus subscribers? It's well worth a download, even with just 2 maps.

Good to see that they selected to rerelease the Evo version of VF4, rather than the original. I was somewhat aware of that game coming to PSN, but no clarity about which edition was available.
  • Alestes #9 3 months ago

I would have bought Virtua Fighter 4 - Evolution instantly, if it isn't for the fact that Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown is released on PSN this summer.

But maybe I give Steel Dragon Ex a try, been a while since I played a nice shoot'em up :-)

@sfp_noodle, to me it looks more like a "PS2 games that the PS3 is powerful enough to emulate" list.

Are these PS2 games upscaled or what.
  • siro #11 3 months ago

Need that Half Minute Hero half price on XBLA. :)
  • Ace-Reject #12 3 months ago

There are only 3 games i've heard of on the Playstation 2 list, can't wait to try SSX though.
  • lucky_jim #13 3 months ago

I hadn't played God Hand before last week, and it's absolutely superb. The PS2 games have been pretty crap so far though.

    VF4:Evo?!

The wait for VF5:FS might actually be tolerable now!
  • fabio78 #15 3 months ago

Forget about the old, guys... Motorstorm RC priced under a fiver is a steal, and nobody seems to give a fine fuck! The game has been having positive reviews everywhere, and after all the bad timing/luck that plagued MS Apocalypse, the guys at Evolution deserve better IMHO.
  • Tuffty #16 3 months ago

VF4. Still, to this day, has the best tutorial mode in any fighting game ever.
  • vizzini #17 3 months ago

For people like me who need access to a proper Virtua Fighter training mode it is like printing money for Sega and Sony releasing VF4 Evo on PSN.

It took me all of 10secs from reading about it on EG to login in and make the purchase.
  • ilmaestro #18 3 months ago

VF4 Evo! Somehow topping God Hand within a week.
  • vizzini #19 3 months ago

After playing through VF4Evo's command input last night with Akira(a few run throughs), I suspect we'll be seeing a new Playstation 3 firmware today or tomorrow, as the PS2 emulation is to put it politely; broken. It suffers major slow down causing laggy inputs on multi hit combos and failed to recognise my arcade joystick PS buttons to even be able to access the XMB.

I've still got a PS2 and physical copy of the game, and my old 60GB PS3 to use the PS2 copy with, and by comparison the digital PSN version on the slim is kicking the crap out of the slim's software emulator. It seems like it hasn't been tested correctly with the game. Every time I pressed a button it felt like a flood of assertion failures were silently being piped to the stderr stream.

Burnout 3: Takedown next week please.
  • ZippyNL #21 3 months ago

Weird that it took them so long to do this PS2 thing, and now they seem to be so prolific. Nothing for almost five years, then multiple games a week? I'm really not complaining, and will definitely purchase one or two (particularly if they do bring out Burnout 3 which would be boomshank), but why so late?

Is it a technical reason? Seems unlikely that they've only just figured out how to accurately emulate their own system.
Or a marketing reason? Like..err....no idea.

Ah well, gift-horse-mouth-thing I suppose, keep them coming chaps.
