First NeverDead DLC announced

New character! New challenges! Egg hunt!

Konami has announced the first DLC for Rebellion's head-rolling action game NeverDead.

It adds a new character, expands the Asylum level, adds three new challenges and two new costumes for main character Bryce Boltzmann.

The NeverDead Expansion Pack Volume 1 launches on 21st February.

The contents in full, in publisher Konami's words:

New Character: Play as the fashionable, charismatic pop-idol, Nikki Summerfield in cooperative challenges with your friends through online multiplayer.

Three New Gameplay Challenges Revisit an expanded Asylum level with three all-new challenges:

  • Egg Hunt: Scour the expanded Asylum level for collectables scoring points by delivering them to designated "Score Zones". Make sure to hold on tight to your collectibles as opponents can snatch any that you drop along the way. With enemy ambush points and environmental hazards at every turn, this challenge is tricky!
  • Fragile Alliance: A competitive race through a number of checkpoints spread across the map. You can interrupt other player's progress by attacking each other. The increase of environmental hazards and enemy spawn points will keep you on your toes.
  • Onslaught: Unlock the entire Asylum level section-by-section by defeating all enemies.. Demon-seals that block off areas will dissipate as you defeat enemies from the previous area, providing more-controlled player movement and encounters.

Two Additional Character Costumes: Dress Bryce up in these new costumes before going back into the online fray.

It would help if I could actually find a copy of the game for sale. Neither the local independent retailers, Blockbuster, or even GAME have decided to stock 'NeverDead' in the area I live, on any format.

I'm not 'Rebellion's' biggest fan, but they don't deserve to be treated this way by 'Konami'. Other than "gamers", no one else knows the game even exists.

Having great fun with this, bought it to support my local developer, go Rebellion!

£40 launch price was a bit silly for this. I've got it on rental, and it's not bad. Not great either but it doesn't deserve to be squashed.

Thirty quid from Amazon already, another few quid and I'm on board.

Got it via LOVEFiLM and played through the first level. Not a bad game and might pick it up when it goes cheap but disappointed to see that they're already announcing DLC. I get that they're showing continuing support for the title but surely whatever it is could've/should've been in the main title. Sorry for being cynical.

This definitely has 'cult following' written all over it, but whether that's enough for Konami to be happy or Rebellion to feel like they've done a good job... Well, that's another question.

    Squash bugs then do dlc!

I don't think anyone who's played the Asylum level actually wants more of it.

It's a fun (if heavily flawed) game but can't see much point in doing DLC for it TBH.

Crap that should have been on the disc in the first place then?

Hang on, it probably is on the disc.... but they want us to pay twice for it no doubt.
