Arc the Lad, Uncharted 3 DLC head EU PSN Store update

Plus, Kingdoms of Amalaur: Reckoning demo.

Headlining the Euro PlayStation Store update today are PS1 JRPG Arc the Lad and new multiplayer maps for Uncharted 3.

Arc the Lad finally receives a belated English translation, after a mislabelled Japanese version was uploaded last year.

Arc the Lad costs £3.99. But if you're a PlayStation plus member, you can download it for free. This offer expires 15th February.

Plus members can also enjoy priority entry to the Starhawk public beta as well as 75 per cent off Crazy Taxi and 30 per cent off Oddworld: Strangers Wrath.

The Starhawk beta opens for everyone else on 22nd February. Those who redeemed Uncharted 3's Online Pass can enter from 1st February.

The Uncharted 3 DLC is made up of remixed versions of Cave, Fort, Lost City and Sanctuary multiplayer maps from Uncharted 2. They're offered at an introductory price of £3.19, which will later increase to £6.49.

Also on PSN this week: a demo for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

Really been looking forward to Amalur, been keeping an eye on it for ages..cant wait to try demo. nearly wore the x button out playing FF13-2 demo, looks nice but just dull as shit fighting... hope this can scratch my RPG itch.

Arc the Lad has caught my attention but only because of how long its taken to get onto the store so as a Plus member I think I'll check it out, is it any good? And also the Reckoning demo might tempt me, saw the 360 demo last night and the voice acting was atrocious, hopefully they sort that and it can at least be better than Hydrophobia's. Gameplay seemed pretty tight though.

@Vanmunt funny as I had a different experience with FFXIII-2, the flushed out systems and 'FF/PKMN' system really spices up the micromanagement system...

Anyway between the Starhark beta and Arc the Lad are really going to fill the void between now and Feb

You paid full bargain price for an excellent game that deserved your money. What is there to be unhappy about.

Fair enough, I just need more from the battles.. I feel like I am just watching instead of actually doing anything. I miss the ATB and old style FF figting, where as Amalur is supposed to be really hands on.. each to thier own and all that, but this will probably be the first FF not bought on release since VII.

I just finished the Amalaur demo. Until mere days ago I hadn't been aware of the existence of this game, then I looked at some videos and screenshots and thought it looked potentially interesting, if a little too fluffy and fairytaleish in its art style.

Then the demo had a severed head and a rotting pile of corpses within the first few minutes, and I got the feeling that the art style might not reflect the story content after all.
However, I can't say playing through the demo brought my impression to higher levels than than a "meh".
Even out of the starter dungeon the "open" world looks very linear (a ran through a couple of areas, plus took a look at the world map), the combat didn't feel particularly exciting to me (might change at later levels of course) and in the voice acting department I just don't think I can, at least unless the other qualities of the game appear extremely strong, go back to accepting a mute protagonist and mediocre voice acting for the NPCs. Not in this post Mass Effect and SWTOR age (and several high profile action adventure games if we also include non-RPGs).

I downloaded the Kingdom of Amalur demo yesterday, and just finished giving it a whirl. Was anyone else's hilariously buggy? The sound cut out halfway through, the bow wouldn't do charged shots, enemies were invincible and immobile, no background music, the speech skipped itself, bits of roof appeared when I hit enemies, that kind of thing?
