Lucasfilm domains reveal Star Wars: Identities

The name of a new video game?

Lucasfilm has been spotted registering domains for something called Star Wars: Identities.

The domains - StarWarsIdentities.com, StarWarsIdentites.com [sic], and sw-id.com - were registered on 7th November, according to Fusible.

Being Lucasfilm, the implication is that a new Star Wars film - perhaps animated - is on the way. That a new, grandiose movie is in development to succeed Return of the Jedi will is harder to believe.

Or, Star Wars: Identities could be a video game. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed developer LucasArts was seen hiring for an openworld role-playing game in August this year.

Two months earlier, LucasArts made it clear that the studio plans to make more Star Wars games - and better ones, at that.

"In recent years, LucasArts hasn't always done a good job of making games," boss Paul Meegan said. "We should be making games that define our medium, that are competitive with the best of our industry, but we're not.

"That has to change."

The next Star Wars game to be released will be gargantuan MMO project Star Wars: The Old Republic, on 20th December. Following that will be motion-sensing game Star Wars Kinect.

LucasArts hasn't commented officially on the Star Wars: Identities domain registrations.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 fell flat.
