AC: Revelations PS3 includes first AC
You'll find it Eden on the disc.
Assassin's Creed: Revelations on PlayStation 3 includes a copy of the original Assassin's Creed, Ubisoft has announced.
The stealth 'em-up series' opening chapter is included on Revelations' Blu-ray disc - there's no need to download.
Ubisoft has stated the offer applies to "day one copies" of the game, suggesting gamers will only have a limited stab at the deal.
Released in 2007, Assassin's Creed features the initial slice of protagonist Desmond Miles' history-spanning story, and introduces original hero Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad.
Revelations, out this November, returns to many of Assassin's Creed's settings to conclude Altaïr's story, and wraps up the tale of Assassin's Creed II and Brotherhood character Ezio.

That said, the original AC was quite poor IMVHO both from at technical and gameplay point of view.

If the bottleneck of making a modern game was disc size, then yes. It's not, though.

Not really. If anything, it suggests that Blu-ray is a largely wasted media which PS3 owners have been paying that little bit extra for since day one.
Anyway, good news for PS3 owners who don't own the original AC.
EDIT
Negged by the PS3 fanboys no doubt. Alas, negging me doesn't stop it from being true. Just look at PC games, arguably the best platform for gaming when it comes to technology, yet their games are DVD-based.

Loved the first game, I don't understand why everyone hates on it. I've heard a lot of guff about it being too repetitive and such, but it's just like the newer games. Fickle gamers are fickle.

negligible cost for extra dvd? Millions of extra dvd's, having to pay ms for privilege of printing them ? I wouldn't say it's negligible.
However, by all accounts, youre not missing much with AC1 tbh, most people i know said it's kinda dull

PS3 gamers have had to put up with Microsoft buying stuff for years. Like Tomb Raider Underworld DLC which we never saw, for example. Personally, I think its about time Sony started getting stuff exclusively.

Still I don't mind. Seems that the PS3 versions of Assassins Creed started getting some freebies starting with Brotherhood.

I think this means it is released on xbox 360 slightly before it is released on ps3.

So just down to your preferences for multi platform owners, I m still getting X360 version as my son want the sequel and he got X360 in his bedroom.
Otherwise would have considered PS3 version, I m pragmatic and not due to any kind of zealotry to a mere brand names!

Following your logic, you don't own any multiplatform games that have multiplayer because PS3 owners get online for free but you need an XBL Gold account to access the same basic features.
DVD is fine for PC games because they have to be installed to the HDD and cannot be played directly from the disc. Don't forget that 10yrs ago, PC games were sold on CDs but in 2004, some games were taking up 4 or more discs so developers started offering their titles on DVD (a good example is UT2004 which required 6 CDs so Epic also sold a DVD version as all the content could be installed from 1 disc which is far more convenient than 6 disc changes).
PC games will start shipping on Blu-ray when the number of DVDs required to install the game gets silly, I'm guessing 4 and upwards.

Not sure what you're getting at there. I have every intention of buying AC:R, that's not in any doubt. However, AC1 is the only pillar release from the series that I don't own. And seeing as it's now being given away for free, I don't see how Ubi can expect me to pay for it just because I don't own a PS3.
But as has been said, I can take comfort in the knowledge that AC1 is apparently a bit shit anyway, which is the reason I've held out from buying it for so long.

This is a far far better way to encourage new sales than cutting back features for pre-owned users.

It's not being given away for free by Ubi, Sony have paid them for it to be free for PS3 owners.

Fair point. And kudos to Sony for it.
But the fact still remains that it's being given away for free to PS3 players, which puts me off actually buying AC1 (regardless of how cheap it is nowadays). But I'm sure the bag 'o money Ubi has will outweigh the £6 I'd have potentially paid for it, so no love lost really.

Exclusivity deals work both way, just have to live with it, unless you're a multiple console owner. It's hardly worth crying about, you either pay the £6 to play game , or don't . (£5 preowned in cex)
Unfortunately exclusivity is a part of industry , with both companies using them as selling points( I wonder how many people actually buy a console based on these kind of things??, im guessing not many, meaning people lose out for no real reason, although in this case I reckon it might just be a case of ubisoft being unwilling to meet cost of extra discs and paying ms for privilege , rather than Sony offering large amounts of money to have ac as an exclusive content on disk )

Giving this games away for free is cool, but if you liked this series you'd already have played it. Mind you, it is PS3 owners we're talking about and in the UK they're not exactly know for buying games!"
Wtf are you on about??? What's are you basing this uk ps3 user related attack on exactly ???
Second of all, bluray offers option of higher quality video( an option rarely taken in multiplat titles as no point taking time/cost of implementing it on one, when it's not able to be implemented on other system.
In games like Rage , where images are being streamed off disc, rather than being produced by in game engine , it would have been a bigger issue, as until MS relaxed their rule on 3 disk cost , ID were going to use lower res textures, so they could fit onto 2 DVDs , rather than pay MS for printing of 3rd disk.
Basically DVD is a restriction and in some ways does hold back this gen slightly, but not huge amounts in terms of image quality in game, unless they have to stream low res textures , rather than use an extra disk, as I just discussed.
Other than that , main differences between ports of games is the way engine was designed, whether it was built around 360 architecture, or ps3.

so you missed the fact that ID were discussing possibility of full install on ps3??
This then wouldnt be an issue.
Cormack also said there's bits on Rage that run better on ps3.

Yes it's a disadvantage of the bluray drive in ps3 when images are being streamed like in rage, but it doesnt lead to content being left out entirely, and a full install option isnt an option thats been ruled out entirely at this point. However, he actually said it's been awkward and had to be worked around, but never said it has led to inferiority issues compared to 360 version. MW2 streamed and they had no issues with streaming textures off the bluray. They worked around it very effectively.
He said, “It’ll be nice when we don’t have that physical element we don’t have to be working around or scheduling around.”

Multiple disks still incur extra costs for devs, something they want to avoid, so unless MS relaxes those, then it's still an issue.
If Ubisoft wanted to include AC1 with 360 version they have to pay for millions of dvd's to be pressed. If a dev wants to include higher quality video footage, they have to press millions of extra dvd's. Its a fact, that dvd's holding back this gen console games im afraid, whether you admit it or not.
I dont deny that most multiplats have, and to lesser degree now, look inferior on ps3, but like suggested before, this is mainly to do with engine design, nothing else, and in cases recently, this is being reversed when ps3 is lead format, and in non lead format cases, there's usually pro's and cons on each side.
Not an issue for me as i own both consoles, but facts remain facts, not that little things like facts , get in your way of ranting like an incessant fanboy
