Fallout inspires Polish political video

Warsaw what you did there.

Polish political party Poland Comes First has produced a video undeniably inspired by Fallout.

The video begins with a close-up of an old television set, its screen showing black and white photos presumably of Polish politicians. The camera pulls slowly backwards. And through a space where a wall once stood, a post-apocalyptic cityscape with half-destroyed and charred skyscrapers is revealed. "Maybe", the 1940s song by The Ink Spots, plays in the background.

It's identical to the intro of Fallout 1, but with photo-shopped images on the television set.

Poland Comes First is a relatively liberal centre-right political party. Its focus is on speeding up economic reform. How will the promotional video go down with Bethesda?

The two videos are below.

The second video doesn't work, but if it's what I think it is (and I have no reason to think it isn't), it's literally a photoshopped Fallout intro. And I mean the original one, not Fallout 3.

EDIT: Works now. And yup, Fallout 1's intro it is, indeed.

Dear Eurogamer editor, go play Fallout 1 and stop pretending you know what you're talking about.

So it is. Thanks for the correction. Edited accordingly. It's more blatant than we had thought!

in case anyone gives a shit - captions are about fights and promises between two major parties - we have elections in october

sadly, makers of this clip are from some completely insignificant small-time-party - if it would come from some major political player my mind would be blown O_O

OK, what's the big deal? This movie is NOT official PJN movie. It's made by some YT user named "kofeyna". Official YT PJN's channel is here - http://www.youtube.com/user/PJNOFFICIAL#p/p . No such vid there.

So what it's not official? Even considering the level of the political debate in Poland this video still hovers somewhere between embarrassing, laughable and pathetic (hm, pretty much like PJN itself).

@pauleyc - I know, I'm Polish and I know our political world is rubbish. I just wanted to point this out.

"Polish political party Poland Comes First has produced a video undeniably inspired by Fallout" - that is NOT true.

You know, I can make a vid about you as a candidate for president, would you say then "so what?" if someone accused you of plagiarism? :p

    Tagline of the year?

    @Hivess:

My comment was rather aimed at the official/unofficial distinction - whether or not it was produced by PJN, the video is still pretty poor. As for the sensationalist reporting/lack of fact-checking - I guess EG is aspiring to be the Daily Mail of games journalism... :-\

As a journalist and an EG fan of many years, all I can say is that I'm majorly dismayed by your recent news coverage. I don't look anywhere else for gaming news and I'm sure I'm not the only one. So if it takes you an hour to fact-check and get your two sources of confirmation, then please do. Or even if you do report rumours or use single sources (with the exception of publishers, developers etc. for certain stories), please make it clear to us that you're not sure.

This has been going on for a long time. I usually give you the benefit of the doubt because you're EG and you've been my favourite gaming site for years! But if it continues, then I'll be off elsewhere. :(

Neg away if you wish, but surely I'm not the only old-timer noticing a difference in quality from a few years ago to now?

You could have credited The Vault wiki (where you got it) as the source. Or actually read the source, where you'd read that it's based on the original Fallout's intro and that it was made by the party's sympathizer, not the party itself, but posted by the party on their official community site.

i am ashamed, lame minor party getting some attention by stealing ip

AhiFi: I agree whole heaetedly. Though I think it's not so much a lack of real journalism and fact checking but rather a lack of editor intervention that is causing this. If whoever is playing chief editor slapped a few heads a'la Jethro Gibbs then maybe the likes of Robert Purchese wouldn't be so secure in the thought that they can put out any old rubbish as if it is fact.

But hey, posting such inaccuracies gets us to post comments and then check later for other comments, increasing the hit count and that's clearly what's important here, not reporting actual news, that would just be silly for a gaming news site.
