Xbox Resi Evil HD remakes have 1000Gs

Down as Games on Demand titles.

The downloadable Xbox 360 high definition remakes of Resident Evil: Code Veronica X and Resident Evil 4 each have 1000 achievement points.

Normally, Xbox Live Arcade games have 200 gamerscore.

But Capcom is able to work around the restriction because both games fall under the Xbox Live Games on Demand banner, as they are retail releases in Japan, notes Game Informer.

The achievements for Code Veronica have, predictably, leaked online, courtesy of Xbox360Achievements.org:

  • The Terror Begins (50g): Escape from the graveyard of terror
  • A Changed Father (50g): Liberate the changed man
  • Beyond The Shades (50g): Encounter a former S.T.A.R.S. captain
  • The Fallen Tyrant (100g): Flatten an unstoppable enemy
  • The Prisoner Who Lost Everything (100g): Defeat the nameless man and end his suffering
  • To The Frozen Land (50g): Begin the search for your sister
  • The Arrogant Queen (150g): Put an end to the Queen's reign
  • Duty And Humanity (50g): Deliver some medicine to a man in need
  • Weapon Crazy (150g): Get the Rocket Launcher
  • Battle Master (150g): Get the Linear Launcher from Battle Game
  • From The Young Lady (50g): Receive encouragement from a young lady
  • The Green Giant (50g): Say farewell to your fallen comrade

The Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica HD revamps release this autumn on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade.

Both titles have been enhanced with upgraded HD visuals and given achievements or trophies, while Resident Evil 4 gets the Separate Ways bonus content too, which featured in the PlayStation 2 and Wii versions of the original game.

As brilliant as RE4 is I have enough by now. Played through it a couple of times on the cube and then on the Wii again and I'm pretty sure I have seen it all by now. Code Veronica might be interesting to look at although I suspect the price might be a bit high if the games are released under the Games on Demand banner.
  • Username_0074 #2 11 months ago

I just hope that won't be as ridiculously priced as the other GoD offerings. I'd be okay paying 1200 MSP for RE4 HD, but 29,99€ would make me think twice.
  • richarddavies #3 11 months ago

That's brilliant. Looking forward to these. i started Veronica x not long ago but stopped when I heard about these. I hoped there priced right though.
  • tokenwebster #4 11 months ago

WTH?!?!? Never even knew the remake was comin out :o Both these games were awesome, wouldnt mind play code veronica again for some classic RE :D
  • anthonypappa #5 11 months ago

never played either of them, but will get RE4. not really interested in code veronica somehow.

this and the MGS HD pack should be great.
  • metallicorphan #6 11 months ago

with other Games on Demand games, you don't use points you need a credit card(apart from the old Xbox 1 games which are still 1200 points)

kinda in two minds about this,i was expecting no more than 1200 points for each as Arcade games, now on GoD they will be priced as pounds and pence,so i am guessing they will be no less than £14.99 each,as that i think is currently the lowest price on GoD :/
  • Monkeyspoon #7 11 months ago

I think I'll get this on PS3 when it's out.
  • sfp_noodle #8 11 months ago

I hope to god the MGS HD collection gets the same treatment. There's far too much to do in those games and 200gs would not do them any justice. If Konami have sense they will follow suit.
  • anthonypappa #9 11 months ago

and does this mean there's a platinum?
  • -cerberus- #10 11 months ago

Aw, I want a retail copy of Code: Veronica HD :(
  • rudedudejude #11 11 months ago

Separate Ways is cool, played RE 4 to death though
  • AcidSnake #12 11 months ago

I think that of those achievements only one isn't achieved by playing through the game once...Bit of a joke...

EDIT: Why the negs? Apart from the rocket launcher and maybe the railgun all others are "achieved" simply by finishing the game...
What about "Never use a first aid spray", "Never get touched by a Bandersnatch" or "Find all hidden files" or something?

Hmmmm......might be looking at a £15-£20 price tag on these then, which is taking it out of impulse territory for me, especially as I already own both titles on other (non-HD, admittedly) formats....
  • kitsuneyo #14 11 months ago

Does this look like an incredibly easy 1000G or what.
  • metallicorphan #15 11 months ago

@Kitsuneyo i thought the same thing until someone told me that the' Weapon Crazy (150g): Get the Rocket Launcher' means completing the game in under 5 hrs without saving,i may have some trouble with that,LOL
  • javvyman #16 11 months ago

These should be priced at 1200 points, 1600 max, which roughly translates to £9-12. So i'm fully expecting these to be released at 11.99, though even that is a little steep
  • Bulbatron #17 11 months ago

Looking forwards to playing these again. I want them to do well, so that perhaps Capcom will consider re-releasing other Resident Evil titles in the same manner - especially Resident Evil Remake.
  • steve1979 #18 11 months ago

@metallicorphan You can use points to buy GoD games. It's about 1800 points for a £14.99 game.
  • Sid-Nice #19 11 months ago

If only fullmalls.com sold video games?
  • Peew971 #20 11 months ago

@metallicorphan, you can buy GoD with MS points, at some point you're supposed to press Y to change the "currency" from pounds to points.
  • coolbritannia #21 11 months ago

Awesome, not been tempted by ninty since I fell out of love with them around the gamecube era, so this will feel pretty fresh to me.
  • Hobo #22 11 months ago

I hate to be that guy, but the listing of these as Games On Demand has been known for at least six weeks or so.
  • GAmbrose #23 11 months ago

I can't help but feel that Code Veronica, despite being the first game with 3D backgrounds as opposed to pre-rendered, will still be hugely dated compared with recent efforts.
  • GamesProgrammer Verified Games Team Programmer, Eutechnyx Ltd. #24 11 months ago

So they got the 1000g but they were still restricted to the 12 achievement limit, that's a bit strange to say the least, and a big shame.
  • Collymilad #25 11 months ago

    kinda disappointing achievements tbh.

Seems like they did 50gs for all the key moments then just throught "fuck, we have loads left" then just fired 150g off at loads of pish. Some smaller ones for doing certain things would have been good.
  • thiagots85 #26 11 months ago

Resident Evil 4 I'll not even bother, I think it was there when the hiper hyped games of this franchise started to go BS and beyond (still like the games on rail on wii...don't know why)... But Code Veronica X? for me, the best resident evil game created... I love the other games before as well, but code veronica X is my choice of awesomeness... looking forward to play this again
  • metallicorphan #27 11 months ago

    @peew971 + steve1979-thanks for the info,didn't have a clue about that
  • McFly55 #28 11 months ago

Looking forward to Code Veronica again, but have played so much of 4 I could take or leave it. If they would release a 1-3 HD box set with backrounds redone in proper 3D instead of rendered I would buy that in a second. Well as long as they dont redo the voice acting, I would miss the cheesiness
  • SteveHolt #29 11 months ago

@GAmbrose: depends of you opinion on what RE should be - I played Veronica in 2000, and the gameplay already felt dated compared to RE3 IMO, but it's probably the best of the series if you think RE1 and 2 were the pinnacle of the franchise - very long game, varied settings, bigger than life villains, the most ambitious plot of the series, and some old-fashioned puzzles (the crystal cannonball one, in particular, was very puzzling).
  • geeza2020 #30 11 months ago

Another HD remake :( Got any new idea's you'd like to show us Capcom? Nope, didnt think so.
  • lockload #31 11 months ago

    Gamerscorehorin here i come!
  • Xardan #32 11 months ago

Awesomesauce. Might give it a buy even though played them already.
  • spidermanalf #33 11 months ago

Wonder what the Jap versions are like i.e. work on my UK machine, have an option for English language, if so will be buying those, least then I can ebay and get some cash back. Times is hard!

Edit - Just had a look on playasia and found this

    [link url=http://www.play-asia.com/paOScore/19-71-bn-49-en-15-biohazard-43-bn.html

They all seem to be region free, but no mention of languages etc. Also will have to see what the price finally is over here.

Code Veronica - September 8th. Aaaaargh!
  • jellyBelly #35 11 months ago

Anyone know if there's gonna be a retail version on ps3?
  • Darren #36 11 months ago

So these are only digital releases? I was hoping that they'd be both available on a single disc like the PS3 HD remakes. Oh well, there won't be any disc swapping at least. :)

Even though Code Veronica is my favourite Resi Evil followed by the superb remake of the first game on the Game Cube, it starting to look a bit dated judging by the trailer. I'm certainly more interested in playing Resident Evil 4 in HD though as the PC port I tried a few years back was very much a wasted opportunity; being appallingly converted with no lighting effects (until it was patched in later!) and used the same grainy poor-quality FMV from the PS2 version (the GameCube version used realtime in-engine cutscenes). Looking forward to it.
  • alimokrane #37 11 months ago

I hope some of those who remade Code Veronica remember what actually makes a good resident evil game! and let's see that in the 6th please!

Picked the cream of the crop for these remakes. Looking forward to 4 again, and I adored CV.
  • Mr_Brown #39 11 months ago

I would like to play through Code Veronica again so I may get that. The additional Achievements and HD is a nice plus. Though to be honest I have enough versions of Resi 4 to be honest. Would have been nice to have Resident Evil 2 and 3 instead...

  • Acrid #40 11 months ago

Never gave Code Veronica the attention it deserved on PS2 and I haven't played RE4 since the Cube days so I reckon I'll pick both of these up, IF they are priced appropriately.
HD remakes is a stretch though isn't it? Both games look like they've had nothing done to them in all the videos and screenshots I've seen.
  • miiiguel #41 11 months ago

Getting the Rocketlaucher Achievement is going to be tough.
  • yuggy #42 11 months ago

I'm not sure I'm prepared to buy these. I played up to disc 2 of Code Veronica on my Dreamcast sometime over Easter then lost interest. As for Resident Evil 4, I have finished that game an untold number of times on Cube and PS2, I'd rather play it on my Cube anyway as an excuse to plug the thing in hah.
  • lavalant #43 11 months ago

How big will this download likely to be? I'd rather they also released a retail version.

Yes "Capcom worked around the restriction". What fucking restriction? Oh the Xbox Live 2gb games size limit? You do know that its going to be expensive then right? Call of Duty Classic was a PSN game for 14.99. It had a platinum trophy but on Xbox it only translated to 200 gs because of the price. Expect the Resi HD games to leave a hole in the wallet, just like the Halo one.
  • dagas #46 11 months ago

Unless they update Code Veronica I don't think I can play it. I always had trouble with the controls in those old RE games. RE4 was the first one I managed to finish. CV uses pretty much the same controls as the old PS1 games. The only difference is that it had 3D backgrounds instead of pre-rendred thanks to the power of the Dreamcast compared to the PS1.
  • sugarbaron #47 11 months ago

    Physical release or no sale.
  • rogueJT #48 11 months ago

WOW RE4 was so ahead of its time, it genuinely looks current gen.

    CV not so much...

I've been playign through Shadows of the damned and while it's not bad, the level design, enemy design, and set pieces are atrotious compared to RE4's

@metallicorphan: "with other Games on Demand games, you don't use points you need a credit card(apart from the old Xbox 1 games which are still 1200 points)"

You can switch the payment type on the purchase page to use Microsoft points or credit card, or even Paypal (in some countries).
  • ChristopherGore89 #51 11 months ago

Well I work in a game shop and we have had the Resident Evil HD collection down for a retail release on PS3 only and the 360 says download only (I imagine this is down to way Sony have been supporting HD remakes which I do prefer)
