Well, good (and surprised) to see Brink hit the top spot. Let's hope SplashDamage can fix the issues before everyone trades it in :/

(For the record, I've been thoroughly enjoying it, despite the problems)
  • LetsGo #2 1 year ago

Bet it drops like a stone.
  • superfurry #3 1 year ago

@asphaltcowboy That's the problem. The few working online games I've been able to enjoy have been great but the fact remains that Brink is unplayable online without useless AI padding out the numbers and joining and quitting games multiple times in hope of a lag-free experience.

With LA Noire out on Friday, I'm already considering trading it in and unless it's fixed by then, I probably will.

I 1000 pointed it at the weekend. Will be traded this week.

Poor AI that artificially extends round time by taking control points instead of helping with the primary objective until the last 2 minutes and then helps you push forward. Bad throttle points mean that if you are against human players you are never getting through. Combine that with the horrible lag you get on games where AI exists and it is a 6/10 at best.

Despite opinions and reviews for Brink being all over the place, I hope it does well for Splash Damage, as they're one of a dying breed - a high-quality independent British developer.

Yet to play it myself, but I think I'll stick it on the rental list.

Sells incredibly well, but this week I imagine we'll see the "traded in" section of shops absolutely flooding with them.

Nice to see Crysis 2 jump up to 9th. Great game.

I agree with LetsGo though, Brink probably will drop like a stone. There's something about it that indicates it won't be selling big for a long time.

Have to say my high hopes for Brink were sadly let down. Playing it co-op (against bots) with a group of friends can be good fun, but the good ideas are let down by bad net code (both Homefront and this needed a public beta) and terrible map design (Being stuck at a single choke point for 20 minutes is not fun at all).

Can someone please give me an alternative to CoD for my MP fix. Putting my hopes in Gears now.....

Didn't Homefront come in at no1 and due to server issues dropped like a stone?
Homefront and Brink could bethe biggest number of trade ins for two games in one year.
  • HyperTails #10 1 year ago

    @rashes

Homefront is good online, and like CoD, though with bigger maps.

Crysis 2 is brilliant if you can see past the issues that Crytek are set to release a patch to squash (on PS3, 360 got one last week I believe).

"terrible map design (Being stuck at a single choke point for 20 minutes is not fun at all)"

You guys seriously need to use SMART more, it opens up the levels in a way that is not obvious right away.
I've found there are ways round choke points in every single level.

    Good, Brink deserves it imo.

Playing on the PC, dedicated servers allways means a FULL game of humans so i have never had problems with bots, even when i played with a few bots the complete the main objectives so its not much of a problem.

Only time bots have pissed me off is in challenge mode

Only issues me really worth complaining about is lack of support for ATI graphics card, running around 30fps, which is a little annoying drops sometimes to 25, really isn't a steady from rate, lowering the graphics could help but you shoudn't need to should be better optimised.

Overall the game is very good i only paid £25 for it which is what its worth really, full retail price of £35 isn't worth it for 8 maps it's more expensive than the quarterly CoDBO map pack rip off. I guess at lease the DLC will be free in June which is a bonus.

Guns feel fine some feel weak other powerful, but the comparisons to weapons on CoD is just stupid, they are two entirely different game. Thumbs up for me though, 7 hours of gameplay thus far and no real issues. Really don't understand what all this bugs are meant to be.

Though there has been regular patches on PC i should point out.

enjoying brink so far but jus tryed once online and laggy to fuck!
  • kinky_mong #14 1 year ago

I contributed to that shameful No 1 :(

HMV will be groaning under the weight of traded in copies from Friday.
  • coolbritannia #15 1 year ago

Just traded it for Portal 2. Nuff said.
  • thedriffter50 #16 1 year ago

Knew this was going to be crap.

And this is why people buy sequel upon sequel upon sequel.

New IPs for the most part suck and are me too games.
