Crysis 2 Retaliation DLC date, details

Map Pack packs four new for you.

The Retaliation Map Pack for Crysis 2 will be released on 17th May, a new EA video has confirmed.

This is the date for all three platforms: PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Obviously the PS3 release is dependent on the PlayStation Store being back in working order.

Added in Retaliation will be four new maps: Park Avenue, Transit, Shipyard and Compound.

Have they fixed the crazy hit detection yet?
  • bad09 #2 1 year ago

Meh, it's fun but not enough to buy maps.

I don't get map packs anyway TBH, all they do is split the community. Surely that's actually a bad thing?

i dont like buying dlc's for games if i buy stuff like map packs it makes it harder for me to trade games in when i get bored of them.

    For me

    sp close to a 10
    mp a meager 7

so no, won't be buying map packs

I enjoyed the MP beta but once the final game was out I never really touched the MP component after reading about the hacks and file-tweakers.

Not sure I can be bothered to go back to it and level up even if those issues are fixed as there are plenty of other good games to occupy my time with.

If EA/Crytek want to build up more of a MP community for Crysis (for future titles) they should really just give these maps away for free as they are trying to tease people away from entrenched titles like COD.

I really wanted to like the MP in Crysis 2, even after my earlier experience with the demo. Played like 5 matches in the full game, never touched the mp again.

Hi Crytek. Wanna fix your game so that it works on crossfire setups, before you do anything else?
  • Virtual_Entity #9 1 year ago

I know I'm looking really far ahead, but the price of this map pack will be a good pointer to how much BF3's map packs will cost. Come on EA now's your chance to make a mark!!
  • monty2k #10 1 year ago

I really like the multiplayer and I wouldn't mind some more maps. It'd nice if this pack was free or priced around 400-800 points... it better not be 1200!
  • tiny_Eggy #11 1 year ago

Mappack bullshit, no thanks. Was hoping more developers would follow Dice in releasing maps for free and maybe a more comprehensive expansion to net some extra cash. Not that it matters much because Crysis 2 is already buried in the game drawer. Fun for a single play through but nowhere near the quality or replay value of Crysis 1.
  • coolbritannia #12 1 year ago

So I guess they haven't fixed multiplayer then?
  • ToonMonkey #13 1 year ago

Traded in ages ago due to the gash netcode. As many have said the devs would be better off fixing the MP before trying to 'monetise' it.
  • t8yman #14 1 year ago

I agree with the majority opinion, I enjoyed the demo, loved the single player, and found the MP such a mess it was unbelievable. something just wasnt right, some games I could own it, some games I would get my a$$ handed to me, and it wasnt because of different player skills, it was just incredibly badly balanced IMHO. I played it for a few hours (maybe 10) and traded it for Portal. Shame really, because it was almost there.

    Seriously...? ¬_¬'
  • leafmulch #16 1 year ago

I agree with all the complaints regarding hit detection, but I'm also thinking I have no desire to pay for maps that are just cordoned off areas from the campaign - I already paid once for those "areas", didn't I? If they're free - great, otherwise it's a no thanks...
  • carlitoswagon #17 1 year ago

Same story. Traded after finished campaign and realised mp netcode fukked up. Poor hit detection is a deal breaker and shitty host connection doen't help. Maps were uninspired to say the least.

a few days ago, I decided to replay the Crysis mp crash site mode, let me just say the the online community is DEAD & BURIED, everyone already did jump off the wagon.
There was a weapon & mods balancing patch but the lag & hitbox detection are still present.
A shame really, this game had so much potential...

    SINGLE PLAYER

Hate that they decided they had to be cod in a nano suit coat.

    Crysis 1/warhead such superior games
  • CaptainQuint #20 1 year ago

    How much?

    1200 - no dice.
  • Buran #21 1 year ago

^ Sold less than Crysis and did cost a lot more, and the mp has less legs than Crysis Wars, so you're wrong to some extent. Hopefully Crysis 3 will be handheld exclusive.

    @Buran

Sorry, I deleted my comment before you replied, as I wasn't entirely sure of my own assertion that it was Crytek's most successful release yet. However since Crysis sales were something of a slow burn, I think Crytek would consider that label probably still applies, as it beat out Dead Space 2 and Dragon Age 2 apparently.

But I don't really know, which is why I had deleted my comment ;)

There was probably some of my own bias in there too, as Crysis 2 was soooo disappointing after the release of Crysis four years ago. Never have a seen a game series move backwards quite so fast.

I actually quite enjoyed the C2 MP, it wasn't perfect but the stealth, guard options made it different then other shooters. Does seem online is quite empty at times.

That's a funny way of saying Crossfire and DX11 patches

Words cannot express how much I enjoy this game online. It just clicks with me, despite some issues. I've been waiting for a map pack to crop up, so hopefully I won't have long to wait until I get playing it.
  • NunianVonFuch #27 1 year ago

These maps actually look class from the video, probably the first map pack I've ever said that about. 3 second clip of music on repeat, less so.
  • sjmlondon #28 1 year ago

It will be interesting if they bung in some new achievements but if not, I can really only see myself playing it once more in six month time for that one last achievement.
  • richyroo #29 1 year ago

The maps look really good and have a greater sense of vertical height which should contribute to some nice gameplay experiences.

However, I wont buy these UNTIL they fix the graphical bug on 360 and the sound issues in the multiplayer lobbies. Fortunately, I dont have much to complain about connection wise.
  • StooMonster #30 1 year ago

Yeah yeah yeah ... fix multi-GPU problem on PC first please. It's been a "known issue" for long enough.
  • thedriffter50 #31 1 year ago

Crysis 2 was beyond awful. Next time keep this trash to the PC were it belongs.
