THQ to rename Metro 2034?

Last Light URLs snapped up.

Forthcoming FPS sequel Metro 2034 is to be renamed Metro 2033: Last Light, if a set of new URL registrations are to be believed.

As spotted by keen-eyed Tweeter Superannuation, publisher THQ grabbed www.lastlight.com, www.metrolastlight.com and www.metro2033lastlight.com earlier this week, suggesting a name change is imminent.

Developed by Ukrainian studio 4A games, the brilliantly bleak Metro 2033 came out last March on PC and Xbox 360. Set largely in post-apocalyptic Moscow's mutant-infested underground, it won a solid 8/10 from Eurogamer's Jim Rossignol.

Very little has been revealed about its forthcoming sequel since it was first unveiled in June, other than that THQ intends to give it a little more marketing TLC than it did to the somewhat-neglected original.

No release date for the game has yet been set.

LOVED the first one, can't wait for this.

First one had AWESOME graphics on pc, and a great sense of atmosphere and story. the bit with the shadows in the tunnel was really cool.

To me it seems more like an addon to metro 2033...
2034 -i mean the book- was so weak, i dunno how they're gonna make a game out of it. Guess they'll have to make smthg up for that one.

Same here, I can't believe it's been over a year since it launched already!

    One question: Why?

Either way, can't wait. If they improve on the flaws the first game had we'll get one hell of a great game.

Metro 2033 was one great experience. It had a few flaws; but the tension, unknown, atmosphere totally took me.

    Best game of 2010 IMHO.
Criminally underrated - rock on the sequel!

Couldn't get on with it at all. I personally thought it was dreadful along with that other abomination Naughty Bear.

Not played the first (yet!), but really enjoyed the book - despite feeling the plot got away from the author at times, it all really came together at the end. Made me really curious to go to Moscow, and also wondered what a similar story on the Tube would feel like...

So, umm, this is a good thing! Probably.

'thought it was dreadful along with that other abomination - ' bit harsh mate, don't you think?
The game was highly original, had a strong story, good voice acting & beautiful visuals.
Really tense game play too - the idea of home made ammo was a brilliant game mechanic.
Some thought it rough around the edges but I didn't feel that a bit.

I really liked the 1st game , especially the atmosphere and the story. It was one of the few games i bothered to get all the achievements for. I gave it to my friend and we generally like the same games but he cant get into it at all. So this is a game that certainly divided opinions.

The first one was bad coded with many bugs and many gameplay issues...
The only good about it was its DX11 support

I actually don't like that game much. I read a Metro 2003 book before playing the game and I was higly dissapointed how they crippled the story in the game compared to the book. I mean, I have to be simplier, no doubt about that, but they change pretty much everything and the great atmosfphere from the book was gone...

I'm with sjmlondon. I thought Metro 2033 was very dull with ropey shooting and painfully frustrating sections like escorting that guy through the amoebas.
