Lara Croft gets online PC co-op

Raider go.

Nearly two months after release, Square Enix has patched the PC version of Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light to enable two-player co-op online.

You could play offline with a friend on the same machine beforehand - a feat easier accomplished on console.

The PC patch - which also tweaks game controls, performance and visual/audio - is available now on Steam.

Both PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light already have this patch.

The Xbox 360 also has the first batch of DLC, which hasn't yet been dated for the other platforms.

Played from an isometric viewpoint, LCGOL was an experimental spin-off for Crystal Dynamics in a flagging Tomb Raider series. The result was a critical triumph - the game earned an enviable 9/10 here on Eurogamer.

Steam's sales have spoiled me to the point where even when I love Tomb Raider, when I know this is a amazing game, and when I was waiting for this update, I think I will wait until Christmas sales :( Either that or the thanksgiving sales (this week, hopefully).

    About bloody time!

And good point Xabarin... I was going to pick this up as soon as they added the online co-op function, but now that you mention it, waiting for the Steam sale isn't a bad idea at all! :D

Honestly I didn't even know local co-op was available for PC.

How is it? Does it work with two 360 controllers? The article makes it sound like it is difficult or not very well implemented.

@arcam - one on keyboard, one on controller or 2 on controllers :)

Fantastic, thank you. That means that after FIFA 11 and Streetfighter IV, I've found a third game I can play simultaneously with friends on the telly downstairs!

Well if you're interested in local co-op PC games, Co-Optimus should have a listing of some the ones available (although there are some omissions).

You're probably looking for the "couch co-op" tag when searching.

Off the top of my head I can remember Serious Sam offering split-screen co-op. Shadowgrounds and Shadowgrounds: Survivor offered local co-op on the same screen (top down action games). IIRC Trine (from the same company) also offered same screen co-op as well.

You can also tweak the PC version of Left 4 Dead to run in split-screen co-op like the 360 version. You can google how to do that.
