Let the speculation begin!

EA's released the first screenshot of BioWare's next unannounced game, which you can see below.

What is it? We're discussing it right now. Judging by the screen, we're getting a Modern Warfare vibe. Is it Mass Effect 3?

What's the gun? Is it a machine gun, with bullets? We can't see plasma. Any ideas?

Well, it's definitely not Dragon Age related.

There's no evidence of a space suit, either, although the armour hints at science fiction.

Unless, it's a bit of a red herring to get us talking, and in Mass Effect 3 there are flashback sequences. Ahhhh!

Expect more information from the VGAs next month. Screenshot and video are below.

What does THIS screenshot represents?!

Halo ish armour plus battle rifle make it seemly a space marine thing more than anything perhaps, but still it is a FPS, RPG, spin off to Mass Effect? Mass Effect 3? A new space marine type of franchise?

I m intrigued as I m sure we all are, with this coming from BioWare who managed to whet our gaming appetite very well the past years. Though wonder why they thought it was great idea to release screenshot without any info, probably cos they get kicks out of us making wild guesses!

Not only is it a mass effect era sniper rifle, its clearly an Incisor sniper rifle from mass effect with a less shiny texture. The only difference I can see is that theres what appears to be a little folding attachement on the incisor that isnt present in this picture.

It's mass effect 3. We are due the official announcement on that front and that is not real world anyway. Look at the material of his clothing and the gun.

Hope it's soon, I'm delaying playing 1 and 2 again as I'm holding out for a 1-3 epic playthrough when 3 hits

I like the facial animations. It's probably prerendered, but then it's still better than most triple A games out there.

I wanted to spew bile on BioWare going the CoD route, but then I saw ShineDog's comment, excellent work on discovering it's an Incisor! ME3 fuck yeah!

Do still hope the ending of ME will be less action oriented and go out with a character development bang (which I still think is the most awesome part of ME). But I guess that's wishful thinking for a closing act.

oooo a lickle video too. Still doesnt really help figure out what it is. As the vid shows DA2 and ME2, I think it has to be a new IP rather than anything to do with ME. Unless they are doing a ME - DA crossover. Please god no.

I don't recall bioware ever letting me down before. They'd die rather than release a straight FPS. They have a trillion lines of code written that deals with character AI and complex storytelling.

This hint video doesn't tell us much, but I trust these guys; they know how to make intelligent games.

The fact that it is so obviously an Incisor (http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/M-29_In... if anyone is unfamiliar) makes me distrust this somewhat. With their fanbase they'd know that sticking anything immediately recognisable as coming from one of the Mass Effect games in a teaser trailer would give the game away. So either this isn't really a secret (i.e., Mass 3) or the gun is a red herring.
