Ubisoft debunks PC AC: Brotherhood date

Has someone been telling Febs?

Don't believe the 11th February 2011 date given to Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood on PC. That ShopTo telly advert hasn't been finalised yet.

From the Ubisoft mouth, Eurogamer heard: "We have not announced a release date for the PC version and this video has not been approved by Ubisoft."

Even ShopTo admitted the error, telling Eurogamer the video was a pilot and any date mentioned would need checking with Ubisoft.

The video was posted on That VideoGame Blog. As it ends, a picture of the boxed game beside a prominent ShopTo logo spouts the 19th November console (PS3, Xbox 360) date as well as an 11th February 2011 PC date - complete with unqualified asterisk.

The most recent Ubisoft release schedule - sent out today - declares Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood PC a Q1 2011 title.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood famously introduces multiplayer to the series. You could have tried it at the Eurogamer Expo 2011 had you gone.

But there's much more to Brotherhood than that. There's a story about Ezio building his own Brotherhood of assassin's and leading them to glory. What this means is more sandbox gameplay, albeit done in a way that pulls on the series' strengths: the running, the jumping, the exploration.

Tom Bramwell is reviewing Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood for Eurogamer. He's testing it right now - he has a big smile on his face. He'll deliver the Eurogamer verdict on Tuesday.

You've got a tale.

I would love to buy this on release but I'm going to wait for the £20 game of the year version.

They really don't like the PC, do they?

Will it have their DRM? If it does, no sale.

Really looking forward to this. Fable 3 has left me slightly flat (though a second playthrough with hindsight might help there), and I'm staying off New Vegas until they release the console patches. AC:B is the only one left on my current big-3-list. I'll be gutted if its not super bonkers awesome.

It will photoboy, at least all the box art I've seen shows the "Permanent internet connection is required". That said they may be mock ups but I doubt it.

I'm personally torn between buying this or continuing my all platform boycott of Ubisoft games. I'm finally getting around to finishing AC2.

Game needs a pad and a huge TV to be played properly anyway, none of that "press 7 to walk, press Q to turn left" shit

Only game I can see challenging Rock Band 3 for GOTY in my eyes, can't wait.

You do know that there are game pads for PCs too right? I myself use a 360 pad. As for the huge TV well I think a huge monitor works as well but my PC is connected to a big ass TV so it's all good.

With that shit DRM? They can keep it. :)

Who cares if it's late with their crap infecting it (the single player side obviously!). 2nd hand console fodder like AC2.

You know, I think this thread is the second time I've said I've been considering boycotting the game, the second time I've seen you say something along those lines and the second time I've gone "hmmmmm... good idea."

Ordinarily, I don't buy second hand games or sell my games out of the "noble" intention of rewarding the devs for their works (or possibly "misguided" is a better term :) as I have a lot of games, some of them very shit, but I don't sell them) but I might just make an exception for Ubisoft games from now on.

    Yeah UbiLauncher = no sale.

Funny thing is that all their games released since they use the DRM failed commercially and went more or less straight to the Bargain bins.
  • bad09 #14 2 years ago

    @sneetch

Yep since going PC I've not bought a single 2nd hand game (with Steam sales why do you need to!). However, I've waited all year for a turnaround on PC but nothing so the other week I got my 1st 2nd hand game in like 2 years, Assassins Creed 2. Splinter Cell next and every Ubi game I fancy after that.

Hey who needs piracy to fuck over scum like Ubi :)

Makes no difference to me. "Always on internet connection required" = No sale. It's the reason why Ass Greed II which came free with my PC is still in the box. I have no interest in being monitored by/signing over my rights to Ubisoft when I play a single player game, and it's the reason why I will continue to boycott all Ubisoft games on all formats.
